All of my posts have been so old, but here is a current one...
Every time I write one of these posts, I feel so sad that I can't remember more of the funny things that my kids have said recently. Because seriously, they are REALLY funny! They make my days so much better by keeping me laughing and I love that! Here are a few recent favorites...
We were eating dinner on Christmas Eve and Logan got really
thoughtful. After a few minutes, he said, "I think that Jesus made
Santa to deliver the gifts because the wise men couldn't fly."
I guess I have been using my text-to-speech feature on my phone a lot. Avery recently started saying things like "Mom, can I go upstairs and play question mark?" Or "Get me a drink period." Or I was sending a text the other day and she said, "Mom, you didn't say period!" It makes me laugh!
My parents babysat the kids about 2 months ago while we went to dinner
with some good friends. My mom texted me while we were out and said,
"Avery just told your Dad "I like to look at my mom's boobs." Your dad
spit his dinner across the table."
When Rylee does her reading for school, she doesn't just read. She sings it. It is so funny to listen to. She makes up her own tune and belts it out. Usually in a lovely falsetto. Cracks me up everyday! And she is SO serious about it, too. It is not something she does to be funny.
Bronson decided he doesn't like his binky anymore. Instead he does this
funny moaning sound to put himself to sleep. It is so funny! It is
kind of like he is singing himself to sleep, I guess. None of my other
kids have ever done that and it makes me laugh every time I put him to
sleep.
Avery had a pretty big fear of Santa. She has a fear of most mascots and things. She has nightmares about the Chick-fil-A cow. At Christmas, she was a little worried about Santa coming into our house. When Darren tucked her in on Christmas Eve, she asked if Santa was big. Darren said he was normal sized and then she said, "when he comes, I will give him a hug. Then I will cry."
Rylee had to have a tooth pulled. She had an abscess. It was a baby tooth, but one that won't come in for awhile so she had to have a spacer put in. She was so excited about getting it. She told everyone at school she was getting a gold tooth, so I think she was pretty disappointed to find out it was just a little silver ring. However, she has showed it to just about everyone who will look since she got it. As a parent, that isn't exactly what you want your child to be so proud of.... But she is pretty happy with it!
Logan and Rylee had a funny conversation at dinner the other night. Avery was saying something about how if I left that only girls could be in charge. Logan piped in that Dad is always in charge. Rylee argued that it is Mom that is in charge and they went back and forth for a little bit. Then Logan explained it like this, "Rylee, its like in a cartoon. Dad is the superhero and Mom is just like the sidekick."
Pretty much everything Avery does lately makes me laugh. She is just at
that funny age. I think 2 and 3 year olds are my favorite age. There
are a lot of tantrums to deal with, but they just say funny things! And
their cute little voices!!! I wish I could bottle them and save them
like that forever! For the last few days, she has been obsessed with
sleeping on the floor. She has a perfectly good bed, but for some
reason she likes the floor and she has been sleeping better though, so
who is going to argue with that? I also love that she calls anything
that has happened in the past "last night" and that she says "bis" (just)
in almost every sentence. Also, her little head cocks to the side with
so much attitude when she talks lately and her eyes are so expressive
and funny to watch when she talks. She entertains me!
Avery is always asking "What are the rules?" when you give her an option instead of "what are my choices?"
Logan had Parent-Teacher Conference last week. His teacher was telling me how they are writing stories right now and was telling me a little about the process. Logan piped in that he had a great idea for his next story called "Mrs Christensen is Missing". Then he started going on about how she was going to be kidnapped and they would need $2 million and the kids would have to go all around Utah to get that much money. The teacher started talking about something else and asked Logan a question and he started back into the story. He was making up funny dialogue and everything. He was going on and on about how some boy in the class would say "How about a pizza?" and what everyone would do. He had some funny ideas. Then the teacher went on to something else and he interrupted again with more details. I don't think his brain ever rests! I just wish he would write them down. He has some pretty funny material!

Recent Stuff
Since I am working on posting pictures from July, I thought I would just do a quick recap of some recent things. Just things I don't want to forget before I get around to posting them in March, or whenever I actually get things current. So, here are some things going on lately.
Bronson practically grew up overnight. Really. He had his first haircut a couple weeks ago. Then we left on our trip and he went swimming for the first time, started crawling, got his first tooth and learned to clap and wave. And turned 7 months. All within 4 days! Crazy! He was the BEST baby on the trip. He just went along with whatever we were doing and never got too upset if he missed a nap or feeding. He loved the lights and he really loved all the characters. He always wanted to grab their faces! He was great in the car, too. He is the sweetest thing ever. Now that we are home, he is crawling all over the place! I am a little nervous that the tree and presents are in big trouble! We'll see if they survive... He has been super fussy since he has cut 2 teeth and is the biggest mama's boy lately, but I don't mind too much. I know how quickly they grow up and he just might be my last baby so I'm trying to just enjoy it.
Avery is hilarious lately. Seriously the funniest girl ever! She makes me laugh all day long! She is Mrs Personality and has so many funny things she says and facial expressions that crack me up. I just wish I could remember them all. She was my favorite age at Disneyland. The only sad part was that she was about 2 inches too short for the big rides. She would have loved them! But, she loved pretty much everything. She was a little nervous about the characters at first (she has a BIG fear of the Chick-fil-A cow and Big Blue...) but she did great with most of them. Some of the bigger ones she needed Mom or Dad to meet. She held out her autograph book and stood back as far as she could when she met Woody. It was hilarious. But everything was so magic and real to her. I loved watching her there. She was always dancing around and having such a great time! She especially loved the Princesses and asked to meet "Princess A-wawa" (Aurora) every day. So cute! Since we have been home, she has been saying so many funny things. I love this age. She talks SO cute and her little voice melts my heart about 100 times a day. Even when she is a stinker!
My little Rylee has been the biggest sweetheart lately! Sometimes she is a difficult child to handle because she can be very particular about a lot of things, but lately she has been the best helper! I love it! She is always asking how she can help and entertains Bronson for me all the time. She was so great on the trip. We usually do a point system for the kids to earn their souvenirs and she had the most because she was an angel! She rode just about everything and loved it all and even got to meet Merida from the movie Brave, which is her favorite Princess right now. She loved her autograph book and she loved being the Daredevil to ride all the rides when Logan wouldn't. She even rode Tower of Terror with daddy! And she wanted to ride California Screamin' - the big roller coaster - but she wasn't tall enough. She picked out a Merida Barbie doll at the end of the trip for her souvenir, but it was something I had actually already ordered and was supposed to be shipped to our hotel and it didn't make it there before we had to leave. My sister was coming the next week, so I arranged for her to pick it up, but that meant that Rylee had to go home without it and she didn't even complain. On the trip, we were talking about them missing school and that when they got back they could tell their friends about some of the things they did. Rylee was so sweet and said that her friend Dessie had never been to Disneyland so she didn't want to talk about it at school because she might feel bad that she didn't get to go. I just love her!
Logan has been a bit hard lately, and that is rare for me to say about Logan because he has always been a really easy child. He just never seems to want to work, but he wants to do fun things all the time and he has gotten a little sassy, too, which has never been like him before. I guess we are just entering the next phase of life with our kids and getting closer to teenager-hood... He was a lot of fun on the trip most of the time. We had a hard time getting him to ride things. I don't really understand why he still has a fear of some things since we have been there SO many times, but we didn't push it too much this time. He was so excited about the things he loves though. That is something I really love about Logan. He is so passionate about things and when he loves something, you will know it! Anytime we were in Tomorrowland, he was jumping up and down and was so excited and wanted to hurry to the next thing. As long as we didn't mention the Matterhorn, he did pretty well... There were a few other rides he didn't want to do either. It made me a little crazy, but oh well! I think he rode Space Mountain and Star Tours at least 5 times each! He also loved Cars Land and a lot of things at California Adventure and was the only one who enjoyed our day at San Diego Wild Animal Park. He was SO excited to see a cheetah run and to see a California Condor. Even when we had to hike HUGE hills to see it. The rest of us were exhausted, but Logan was running up the hills and jumping up and down! He is always talking about some dream he had or "what if..." and all these scenarios about Legos or things at Disneyland. His mind is always going a million miles an hour, and he usually is, too. I just wish I could keep up! Most of the time, his conversations are very in-depth about Ninjago or Hero Factory and I have NO idea what we are talking about! Logan says some of the funniest things - I wish I could remember them! He uses the funniest and most grown-up phrases and terminology. The other day he had me laughing so hard because he was talking about some new lego thing and he kept saying the word, "Extra-tetestrials" Haha! Love him!
Can't wait for Christmas! I have so much still to do but the kids are so excited! I think it will be a fun year for them! Just have SO much to get done!
And just because I can't stand to do a post without a picture, here is one. My cute kiddos on Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for this funny bunch! They make me happy! And a little crazy. But, mostly happy!

Kids Say Funny Stuff
Here are a couple recent funnies....
All 3 of my kids say "amn't I?" instead of aren't I. It makes me laugh every time they say it and I never correct them because I think it is so cute!
Last night, Avery said the prayer on dinner. It went something like, "Bless Heavenly Father to be good. Bless us to be good. Bless the food to be good...."
When she finished Logan said, "She said bless Heavenly Father to be good!" like there was something seriously wrong with saying that.
Then Rylee chipped in and said, "Yeah. He has NO choice! He's already UP THERE (pointing to the sky.) He HAS to be good!"
We spent the weekend at a Family reunion with my extended family on the Boman side. We had a great time and my kids were just about the only small kids there, so they provided a lot of the entertainment for everyone. Logan loves it when it is like that and really enjoys being the center of attention. He said a LOT of funny things, but I can't remember them all. The highlight was his little guided tour. He called it "The Bon Jay" tour with a bit of a French accent. It was a tour to go see some deer bones. The caretaker for the lodge had a grandson about Logan's age and he showed him this amazing site, so then Logan wanted to share it with everyone. I asked why it was called the Bon Jay tour and Logan explained that it had started in France but now was in the US and that he didn't REALLY speak French, but "in my mind Bon Jay means adventure". He was hilarious taking everyone on the tour. I wish I could remember all the funny things he was saying, but I think it was really just the way he was and his mannerisms that was the best part. He spoke in this deep, official sounding voice that I guess was his tour guide voice and he used phrases like "as you can see" and "if you look here" He explained that if you took the tour 3 times, you could become a senior adventurer and find your way back by yourself. And at the end he would say in a VERY distinct tour guide type voice, "Thanks for taking the Bon Jay tour. Enjoy your day here at the Lodge!" That kid is so funny! Everyone seemed to really enjoy taking the tour. I wish I had his energy and enthusiasm!
We went to the Brigham City temple open house this week. It was so pretty inside and I loved the opportunity for my kids to be inside the temple and see what it is like and feel the spirit there. Avery could not stop talking about the "ever and ever" mirrors in the sealing room where you can see your reflection going on and on. I thought that was so cute. Afterwards, we were taking some pictures outside the temple and Logan asked if he could touch the temple. We said that was fine and he said very dramatically, "Its like I'm being whisked up to heaven."
The other day, Darren caught Avery playing with one of the outlets. I don't know why, but we have always described the shock you get from an outlet to our kids as a bite. So, Darren told her not to play with that or it would bite her. She looked at him really funny and then said, "It not going to bite me. It got no mouf. It can't bite. It got no teef."
My visiting teachers showed up last week just as I was cleaning up a blowout. Darren took Bronson upstairs to bathe him. Avery had been up changing out of her church dress and came down and sat on my lap. She smelled bad so I checked her pants.... She WAS wearing a diaper at church, but now she had panties on and they had some skid marks in them.... I asked her about her diaper and she proudly told me she had changed it! I took a quick break from the VTs and ran upstairs. I found her poopy diaper on the floor in her room and it was all rolled neatly and taped up, so I figured she had done a pretty good job and left her to her daddy to clean up her bum. He asked her about it and she said, "I take off my diaper and poop go everywhere!" Darren said, "It went everywhere?" And she said, "Yeah, and I step in it!" Sure enough, he checked her room and there was a spot of poop and poop on her foot that she had been tracking around the house! Oh the joys of potty training!
The other day we were on a little drive running errands and we drove by the first apartment that Darren and I lived in when we were first married, so I pointed it out to the kids. Avery said, "Oh. Is that where you was burned?" She meant born...
Today Rylee got off the bus SO excited! I asked her what the best part of her day was and she proudly said, "I have HOMEWORK!" I hope her excitement for school and homework continue!!!
A couple weeks ago, we were driving up the canyon to meet some friends at Bear Lake to go boating. We saw some cowboys that were rounding up the cattle and Darren pointed it out to the kids. Logan was amazed that there were actually REAL cowboys. He said, "I thought cowboys were only stuff in legends. I thought they lived 30,000 years ago. You know, with pistols and whips."

Olympic Fever
I am trying so hard to find the motivation to catch up on my blog, but I can't seem to get much of anything done these days! I seriously can hardly get off the couch! Right now, I am GLUED to the TV watching the Olympics. Every night I am up so late watching EVERY event - I even saw a little synchronized swimming tonight - HOW do they DO that??? I LOVE the Olympics! I get so wrapped up in all the stories about the athletes and I love watching all the different sports and all the real drama of competition! Its even better than reality TV! My favorite thing to watch is gymnastics and the USA was so awesome this year! (I did cry when Jordyn Wieber didn't qualify for the all around though...)
The best part about the Olympics this time around is that my kids are so into it, too. We decided to do a little friendly competition at our house and have a medals race at our house, so we are keeping track of the medals the US wins, but the kids also all picked another country and we are seeing who can win the most. We made a big poster and are using coins (quarters, nickels and pennies) to track it and it has been really fun. Logan picked Japan, Avery picked Italy and Rylee picked Australia. Logan is a little annoying about cheering for Japan and becomes very upset when they lose! He is one competitive kid. I have no idea where that came from...
The kids usually have to go to bed every night before the good stuff is on TV, but Logan will get up early the next morning and turn on the DVR to watch what he missed. He loves watching Michael Phelps and cheers for him so loud and can't miss any of his races. He told me he calls him "mikey", like they are on a first name basis and he gave most of his primary class a play-by-play of all his races. He also loves watching track and Usain Bolt and today at the park, I caught him practicing his starts just like they do in the Olympics coming out of the blocks. Such a funny kid! He knows so much about so many different sports now from watching things with me and has even taken an interest in fencing and table tennis and was bummed that they don't show them more often. He also was very upset when Justin Gatlin won the bronze medal in the 100 because he heard them talk about how he was suspended for doping and so then I had to explain to him about steroids and how that is cheating and so he really didn't want him to get a medal. And anytime anyone runs really fast, he tells me that he thinks they might be using steroids.
Rylee also has been really into it and likes to watch the gymnastics with me, which I love. She decided she wanted to try gymnastics instead of dance this year, so I took her to the gym this week for an assessment so that they place her in the correct level for fall. She LOVED it! They wanted her to try some skills on the beam and she jumped right up there. She looked so cute! I was really nervous for her, but she did great! She also loved the bars - especially using the chalk! The next day, she wore her leotard all day long and pretended she was Jordyn Wieber and Gabby Douglas and Makayla Maroney. It was so cute! Even Avery got into and Rylee was helping her do some tricks and Avery told me she wants to be a "nastic girl" when she gets big. She also is a big fan of the US swim team's "Call Me, Maybe" video on Youtube. It is Avery's favorite song right now. She sings it SO cute! Have you seen the video? Its pretty catchy...
Rylee also had this conversation said to Logan, "When I'm in the Olympics, you might not be able to come and watch because they might be really far away." Logan's response was, "Well, I'm probably going to be an Olympian, too. I'm not too good at swimming, but I can do something else." Later on he decided that he would like to be a skier at the winter Olympics. I guess at least they set their goals high...
Today, I had the kids watch Oscar Pistorius run the 400 meter semi-final.
He didn't qualify for the finals or win a medal, but I wanted them to see how amazing his race was. I'm sure everyone has seen him by now, but he has no legs and runs with special blades. Even though they are little, I think they understood it was something special. It is so inspiring and a great lesson for anyone watching to see him compete against the fastest men in the world! I was especially touched when the other runner switched numbers with him after the race because of all the respect he had for him. Such great stories and sportsmanship! I think it was one of my very favorite moments from the Olympics so far.
Still a few more days of the games, so if you see my kids in their pjs or my messy house, now you will know why! We are wrapped up in all the excitement of the Olympics right now!

Recent Funnies
Here are a few recent funnies that the kids have said or done. I wish I was better at documenting them because my kids are coming up with some pretty funny stuff all the time!
This morning at breakfast, Logan told Rylee he had a nightmare last night. He told her that he was standing on a cliff and she wanted to "get rid of him", so she pushed him off. He was telling her how he was climbing and climbing to get back up and she interrupted him and said, "And then I stepped on your fingers and kicked your hands back down". Logan said that wasn't part of the dream. Maybe this is only funny if you know these 2 and their personalities, but Darren and I found it hilarious!
Tonight we were reading scriptures. Right before the kids were playing Ninjago and were kind of in that mode. They are a tad obsessed right now. Avery was reading her verse and it said something about the Lord. She quickly said, "Not Lord Garmadon". (He's a Ninjago character...)
Logan refers to me feeding Bronson as "milking". For example, he will say "Has Bronson been milked yet?" or "Are you milking Bronson now?" Not sure if this is funny or offensive since he is referring to me as a cow...
Avery is a bit obsessed with boobs since the baby came home and I have been nursing him. She now lifts up her shirt to feed her babies and tells me, "He's eating my boobies."
The other day, we were driving in the car. Darren has this book from high school with lots of random facts and world records and stuff in it and Logan loves reading it. He had it in the back seat and asked, "Hey dad. What is Grandpa Bill's real name?" Darren said, "William." Logan said, "Are you sure its not Andrew?" Darren said, "No" Logan said, "Well, Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote Phantom of the Opera. Are you sure he's not your uncle or something? He has 2 of the same names as Grandpa."
The other day Darren was making Macaroni and Cheese for the kids' lunch. Logan referred to the uncooked macaroni as stale. Darren explained that they were just uncooked, not stale. He told him that things that were stale were really old. Logan said, "Oh. So, you are a little bit stale?"
Darren went in to tuck Logan into bed the other night and commented on the smell in his room. Logan said, "Yeah, I've been giving my self a chuckwagon!" (Darren taught him how to do a covered wagon with his sheets....)
The other morning at breakfast, Rylee commented that it smelled bad. She and Logan then determined that it smelled like "dad's toots". I told them Daddy was already at work and Rylee said, "Well, he must have left some toots behind."

Kids Stuff...
Just a few funny things the kids have said over the last couple weeks....
I am breastfeeding Bronson and it has Avery VERY interested! The first time I started to feed him, she looked at me and said "Why your boobie out?" Then the other day, I was feeding him and she asked if she could hold him. I told her he was eating and she said, "He can eat from mine boobie!" and started to pull up her shirt. Always trying to be helpful...
The other day, we were driving to Salt Lake and Rylee said, "Hey Look! A herd of motorcycles!" Logan was very quick to point out that animals travel in herds. Not motorcycles. He really likes to correct Rylee lately.
Logan has been hating bedtime lately. Right before I had Bronson, he was complaining about bedtime and being quite dramatic. He said, "This is the worst time of the day! It is worse than jumping into a lava pit without permission!"
Logan also has not been happy about some of the consequences he has been receiving lately. Darren and I took a parenting class recently and Logan will sometimes remind us "What about the parenting class?" if we happen to raise our voices or if I tell him I learned one of his consequences in the parenting class he says, "I wish you would have NEVER gone to parenting class!" The other day, he got into trouble and said, "When I'm a parent, I'm NOT learning from you!"
Every night when we tuck in Avery, she says, "I need to tell you some-ping" Then you have to go over to her bed and she says the same thing every night, "Hallie mine age. Lizzie mine age. Mollie mine age. Annie mine age. Pepper mine age." (The first two are friends. The rest are characters from the movie Annie.) It has been the same for the past week or so and makes me laugh every time.
I was getting Rylee ready for her dance pictures this week and we started talking about her upcoming recital. She told me she was a little nervous because there would be so many people there. I told her lots of people who loved her would be there. She started going through the list. Would I be there? Would Dad be there? Would Logan? Grandma? Grandpa? Then, randomly she asked, "Will Heavenly Father be there?" I told her that he is always watching over us. She said, "No mom. That is Santa!"
Rylee did a performance for my mom and me the other day when my mom slept over. (The boys had a father-son campout so we had a girls night.) She was "pronouncing" each act and singing some fabulous songs she made up herself. All of the performers were friends of hers or combinations of names of friends and neighbors. It was pretty entertaining. At the end, she asked us all to give the performers "a round of plus". Too cute!
When Rylee visited me at the hospital, she looked at my tummy and seemed quite concerned. She said, "Mom, why do you still have a big tummy if the baby came out?" Then, Rylee drew a picture of me after I came home from the hospital. She drew me and Bronson, but I still had a big pregnant belly. I asked her why I was still pregnant in the picture and she said, "Well Mom, your tummy is still kinda big." Then she said, "I guess I can erase a little" and she made the bump a tiny bit smaller...
I was getting Rylee ready for school and she told me that she when she cries before school (which happens alot since we are always having fights about her clothes and shoes, etc) she likes to take her tears and get her eyelashes wet and then push them up so they curl and "look so beautiful". I can't believe the things she does and pays attention to at this age!!!
Logan brought home a picture the other day from school. They make these little wheels with vocabulary words. On one side of the wheel, they draw things that are the word and fit the definition and on the other side, they draw things that do NOT fit. The word was mighty. On the NOT side, he drew Bronson and a few other things. On the Mighty side, he drew Mt Everest and his SISTERS! And they were doing some evil laugh. I couldn't stop laughing!!!
Avery says some of the funniest prayers lately. She usually just says whatever we are doing or gives Heavenly Father a little update. The other night we sat down to eat and she said, "Heavenly Father, Thank you for this day. Thank you for the blessings. Daddy drinking Diet Coke, Mommy drinking water and I'm drinking water and Rylee is drinking water and Logan is drinking water. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." Her prayer the other night was very similar except it said, "Mommy eating dinner. I'm eating dinner. Rylee eating dinner and Logan eating dinner. Bronson not eating dinner."

Funny Kid Stuff
My kids are just funny! At least I think so. Here are a few of the recent funny things they have said.
Today, Avery was telling me some story. I really don't know exactly what it was about. She ended up going on for about 5 minutes. She was making the funniest facial expressions, so I had to get the camera and video her. And she just kept going. I love this stage! She is such her own little person. Her conversations are always hilarious! For part of the conversation, I was asking her about going to nursery today. She said, "Mom, when you Avery did you go to Nursery?" So funny! I love the way she talks. She uses her hands and face so well and she gets faster and higher as she goes and has to stop for big, dramatic breaths quite often. It is so cute!
We were having dessert and the newspaper was on the table. Logan was reading rather intensely so we asked him what he was reading and it was article titled something about kids going to prison. He was pretty into it! Darren and I couldn't help but laugh. He was holding the paper up like an old man and then made some comment about needing his milk to "wash down" his cookie.
Tonight at bedtime Rylee was telling Darren that even when she grew up and moved away, she would still come visit sometimes. She was saying something like this... "If I was walking to my friend's houses (she named a couple people on our street) and I couldn't find their house and got lost, then I would come and visit with my husband and kids."
Avery has been talking about getting married a lot. Lately, she tells us she married Santa! Today, she told me she married Ethan her cousin. She said they got married because he likes Toy Story and has a Buzz and Jessie.
Rylee begged Daddy for a "date" outside on the lawn watching the clouds. I thought that was one of the cutest things ever. She is such a daddy's girl!
Logan has pointed out to Rylee that she says Family Home Evening wrong. I am kind of sad about it because I think her way is much cuter. She has tried and tried to correct herself, but it still comes out "Heavenly Fam Nevening". I love it!
Tonight, Logan was complaining that Rylee was beating him up. This is quite common at our house. Logan is much too nice to ever do anything to his sisters. He just takes it! Darren told him he shouldn't let his sister beat up on him. His response was, "Dad! Rylee is my one weakness!" and then later he said, "Little sisters are my only weakness." Such a funny kid!

Thick and Thin
Today, I was taking the nail polish off of Rylee's nails so that I could put on a new color and it wasn't coming off too well. I told her it was on really thick. A minute later she asked what thick meant. I tried to explain by comparing the difference between thick and thin. I gave her a couple examples. One was the example of a thin book that is really skinny, or a thick book that is much fatter. She thought about it for a minute and then said, "So I'm not thick, right?" and then a minute later she said, "Is that what happens when you have a baby? You get a really thick tummy?"
I think the reality of the baby is starting to set in a little bit around here. I am frantically trying to get things finished up and I have been trying to explain some of the changes and what is going to happen while I am in the hospital and things to the kids. The countdown is close - Just one more Dr appointment!!! Avery follows me around a lot of the time and says "Uppy" and wants me to pick her up and carry her all the time. This isn't going to work when I have the baby because I have to have a C-Section and I won't be able to lift her for awhile, so I've been trying to prepare her for this. Today, I was talking to her and she mentioned something about the baby. I said, "Are you excited for your baby brother to come?" She usually is, but today she said "No!" I was a little surprised so I asked her why. She got a little bit of a sad face and said, "I want you to hold me. I want you to carry me." It almost broke my heart! Oh, my poor Avery! What a hard change is coming for her!!!

My little Sports Nut!
My Logan is such a funny little Sports fan! I love it! He knows all the players and numbers from all his favorite teams and knows more sports trivia than a 6 year old should. He is constantly talking sports. The other day, he mentioned that Gary Wilkinson, a former Aggie player, "really should be playing in the NBA." And when he plays his own basketball games up in the toy room, he has to provide his own commentary and announce the line-ups and keep score. He was actually really disappointed yesterday when Darren told him they wouldn't be announcing his number and position for his soccer games.
Today, he had a friend over and he was showing him all his basketball and soccer cards and telling him about them. He told his friend that if he ever got a Jimmer card, he would trade it or burn it because "Jimmer sucks now"! I hate that he used that word, but it was a little funny.
Tonight, he went to the RSL game with his dad. He has been really excited to go since he learned their new song. My favorite was when he got home. He was half asleep and I asked him how the game was. He said, "It was ugly, but they got the win." Where does he learn this stuff?
Logan was really into the NCAA tournament this year. He told us he was going to watch all the games and he wanted to "play" 32 games up in the toy room on his play basketball hoop, too. A lot of the games recorded on our DVR and I would go upstairs, thinking he was playing Legos or something and he would be watching some of the games. He was pretty intense about it. We let him watch the first half of the championship game on Monday night, but then it was too late, so he went to bed. Tuesday morning, I woke up to the newspaper spread out over the kitchen table. He had gone to get it and check the sports page himself. Then, across our counter were 3 different Kentucky signs he had made, since they had won. He couldn't wait to show them off! I guess all the trips to games have been successful - We have made a little sports fanatic!

Funny Avery
Avery is at such a funny stage right now! She makes me laugh all the time. She is talking really well and has so much personality and her facial expressions are hilarious! Sunday she seemed to be especially funny. Here are a few of her little moments...
We were eating breakfast and I was trying to get Avery to let me help her cut up her pancake. She insisted on doing it herself. Just minutes before, Logan had been whining about needing his cut and we were trying to convince him he could do it himself. I said something to Avery about teaching her brother how to cut his pancake. She immediately broke into this funny, deep, pouty voice and said, "Waaa...I don't want to go to Disneyland. I Logan." It was the funniest impersonation I have ever seen by a 2 year old!
Also at breakfast, the topic of babies came up. She said something about our friend's baby, Baby Asher, and her cousin Baby Robin. Then, she said something about never getting to hold Baby Jesus. Then she added "I love Baby Jesus. He my favorite baby!" Later in the day, she was wearing a blanket wrapped around her and informed me she was getting married. I asked her to who and she said, "Jesus. Not the baby. The big one."
While we were watching conference, one of the speakers said something about "I Am A Child of God." Avery got the most excited look on her face and said, "Mama! That MY song! He said My song!" That is the song she asks for for bedtime each night. It was so cute! She also really enjoyed leading the choir.
Sunday night our family came over for a birthday dinner for Rylee. I kept asking Avery if she would sing Annie and perform for everyone, but she said she had to have an Annie dress first. She had my sister take her upstairs and find a dress up (it was Tangled though.... not Annie....) and then insisted on an Annie blanket. She made us spread the Annie blanket so she could stand on it like a stage. Then, she proceeded to sing us a little Annie. She sang a little Tomorrow and a little Its a Hard Knock Life. She was a little shy, but with every one's help, she sang quite a bit. My favorite was when she got to the long notes at the end and she belted them out and shook her little head like she was singing with all her heart. What a little star! I just love her!!!

Five
Today, my Rylee turned five years old. I don't know if it is the pregnancy hormones, or if I am always like this on every birthday for my kids', but I struggled a little. I teared up a lot throughout the day. How is she getting so big? I love the age she is at right now! I would love to keep her there forever!!!
Rylee will always be my baby girl, even if she is already mentioning things like makeup and boys and trying to grow up so fast! She is such a sweetheart and even though she does have quite a temper, she would do anything to make others happy. She is a total daddy's girl and has promised him for quite awhile that she was NOT going to turn five, but stay four forever. If only we could be so lucky... Five came and she changed her mind. She really wants to get bigger and go to school.
I just finished frosting her cake for her party tomorrow and don't have the time or energy to upload pictures of her and her special day right now, so I will save that for later. I just wanted to jot down a few moments from her day! And something about Rylee that I love - She sat down and drew a design of her cake with just the colors and the way she wanted it. She knows what she wants and she is very particular about things like that.
Last night, Logan came home kind of late from the Aggie game. When Darren went up to make sure he was getting into bed, he was in Rylee's room. When Darren asked what he was doing, Logan explained that he wanted to give Rylee one last 4 year old hug. Is that not the sweetest thing you have ever heard? I love that boy and I love how much they love each other. Luckily, Rylee was up early enough this morning that she wasn't officially five yet, (she was born at 7:39 am and they were up a little before that....) so Logan was able to give her that hug when he woke up. When Darren told Rylee and me that story later in the day, we were just leaving to get our nails done. On the way, Rylee was pretty quiet in the backseat and then all of a sudden, she said, "I'm just thinking about Logan. He is just so sweet!"
Rylee came into our room at 3 am and asked me why there were balloons in her room. I told her it was for her birthday. She said, "Oh" and then went right back to bed. She also scared me pretty bad this morning! I was up alone making breakfast and went to the garage fridge for something and when I came back, she just popped around the corner and announced, "I'm Five!" She had the biggest grin!
Rylee was sick yesterday with a fever, but woke up all sweaty this morning and feeling much better. I told her that being all sweaty was good because her fever probably broke. Later, my sister called on the phone and asked about her birthday. She asked if she was feeling better and Rylee said, "Yeah, I broke my fever last night."
This morning, we had breakfast just as Rylee requested - Popeye Pancakes and fruit and apple juice. Rylee had very specific requests and knew just what she wanted! That is something I love about her. She is a girl who knows what she wants!
This morning, Rylee wanted to watch her new favorite show, Doc McStuffins, on the Disney channel and then we did a little craft to get ready for her party. She loves to make things and paint and had a great time helping me. Then, it was time to decide what to do for the day. She had a hard time deciding. She really wanted to go to the fun park, but couldn't think of a friend to go with because a lot were at preschool. She decided to go to McDonald's instead and play in the play place and she got a Little Pony in her Happy Meal, which she loved. She loved picking out her outfit, which was her birthday shirt, a pink tutu and some purple leggings and sparkly pink flip flops and she had to pick her rhinestone purple headband and a bracelet, too. She also was so excited to carry her sparkly pink purse. She is usually a great eater, but she only ate about 2 bites of hamburger. She told me it was "gross! It's all cold!" Can't blame her! She also had a special shirt to wear that said, "Happy Birthday to me!" and she loved when people asked her if it was her birthday. She seemed so surprised that they knew and then she liked to read her shirt to them. She is getting to be quite a good little reader and loves to show people how good she can read.
After lunch, Rylee and I went to get her nails painted with her cute friend, Madi, who she shares a birthday with. They were so cute at the salon. Rylee picked blue nail polish. She was a little shy. She was going to get her toes done, but I think it made her too nervous for some reason. She also did a little shopping with me. I love going shopping with Ry! She shops just like me. She has to look at EVERYTHING before she can decide! She picked several different things - a hat, a nightgown, some jewelry, but she ended up with some funky slippers that look like flip flops and she LOVES them! She was very proud of her purchase!
I ran a quick errand and Rylee stayed home with just dad. She later said the best part of her day was playing Daddy's ipad. I guess I didn't need to try so hard! She was also thrilled today when Daddy brought her flowers and balloons.
After my errands, we opened presents. Rylee loved all her gifts! For dinner, we went to Texas Roadhouse. They made a big fuss over it being her birthday and she loved every minute of it! The whole reason she wanted to go there was so that she could sit in the saddle. She got her own little ice cream and she made sure to share at least one bite with everyone.
We came home and had cake and ice cream. Rylee barely touched hers because she was full. She is good about that kind of thing and is probably one of the most sensible 5 year old eaters. She usually picks fruit over dessert. After cake, she opened a couple of toys and her and Logan played so cute together. They were playing with some Strawberry Shortcake dolls and going camping and surfing and there was some dating involved... (She also got a Flynn Rider doll...) I just love listening to them and their funny imaginations and watching them play. It made my night!
The best part of my whole day was when I was tucking Rylee into bed. She was so cute! I told her how happy I was that she was born 5 years ago and how special she was to our family and how happy we are to have her. She said, "I know why you love me so much, Mom. Because I think that everything is beautiful!" How cute! It is so true, too. Rylee will forever be my little Princess because she LOVES to be fancy and sees beauty everywhere. She is always picking up rocks or finding funny little treasures. She is kind and sweet and a little bit of a diva. We love her so much and are so glad that she is OURS! Even if she did have to go and turn FIVE!!!
She also is a BIG planner! We have quite the butterfly party planned for tomorrow. I hope it meets her expectations! I think she is already working on ideas for her party next year....

Bedtime Sillies
Last night, when we were reading scriptures before bed, Avery burped. Then she giggled a little and said, "I jus tooted in my mouf"
Rylee is always trying to get one of us to lay with her before she goes to bed. A couple nights ago, Darren laid by her and apparently he tooted. He laid by her again last night and she said, "Daddy, when you laid by me last night, you left something stinky in my room and it smelled like boy all night!"

Bossy
Lately, Avery really likes to pretend that she is the mommy. She tells me all the time, "you a baby. I the mommy". Then she usually proceeds to take away my phone, because it is obviously for mommies and not for babies!
Today I was going to the bathroom and she came in and started telling me to shut the door and "Stay there! Don't move!" I think she was trying to Avoid nap time. I told her that she was being really bossy. Her response was, "I not bossy. I a mommy".

Sumo Wrestlers and Volcanos
I love my conversations with Logan. He has some pretty interesting things to say. I was asking Logan about his day today and he was telling me about playing at his friend's house. He told me that he spent a lot of the time there telling his friend about his dream last night. I asked what his dream was, and at first, he wouldn't tell me. He said it was really sad and said there were "bad words". That made me a little worried, so I asked him to tell me more about it. Here is the story I got. I wish I could remember all the exact wording he used or that I could capture the way that he told the story, but I guess I'll just have to do the best I can.
There was a sumo wrestler. The sad part was that he died. He had decided to quit some wrestling and he started climbing mountains, but he climbed one mountain and it was really a volcano. The volcano erupted and he died. I asked him what the bad words were and he said that some of the fans of the sumo wrestler had big signs that said the word, "suck".
Then Darren got home, so he started telling the story to him, but added a lot more detail. For instance, he said that the sumo wrestler started climbing the mountain and he was only 2 feet up and the mountain was 540 feet and also added there were 70,000 pounds of magma in the eruption. There was something about a button that caused the explosion. Also, he added that the sumo wrestler was on the news because he died and that he was one of the reporters. It was all pretty funny! Very detailed and it just kept getting better and better and longer and longer. My favorite part was that during the whole story, he was watching himself in the window, so I am sure he was practicing to get all his facial expressions just right.

Just Plain Cuteness
Here are just a few of the funny things my kids have done over the last week or so.
Avery is starting to be a little bit hard to put down at night and really hard to put down for a nap. She has started to say "nuggle" when you go to put her down so you will hold her longer. It is my new favorite word that she says. It is really hard to put her down when she is asking to snuggle with you in the cutest little voice! She has never really been that cuddly of a baby, but lately she is always asking to "nuggle" all the time and I love it!
Avery is also getting quite opinionated. She is always telling us "No" when we pick bedtime stories and sometimes even wants a different baby to sleep with at night and she is getting very good at communicating what she wants. The other night I was putting her into her bed and she kept saying "La", which means she wants us to sing her another song and then she would say "God". I couldn't figure out what she wanted but after a minute or 2, I realized she wanted me to sing "I am a Child of God" to her after I put her in her crib. I think it is just another strategy to lengthen bedtime, but it is too cute to say no to, so it is now a part of her nightly bedtime routine.
Some of my very favorite conversations with my kids happen very first thing in the morning. Usually, our kids trickle into our room one by one in the morning (or at night...) and by the time we are getting up, the whole family is piled on our bed for a snuggle, or a wrestling match depending on the morning. One morning last week, I woke up to Logan just a few inches from my face and as soon as I started to open my eyes, he was telling me all about the 3 different Lego sets he was going to put on his Christmas list! He just wakes up and is ready to go! He kept going on and on... The kid is obsessed! I had to make a rule that we can't ask for anything for Christmas until Halloween is over. He was driving me crazy!
Another morning, we had another funny conversation that had me laughing all day long! We were telling the kids that we needed to get some chores done, and Logan was complaining about it. Our daddy told him that we needed to do some cleaning so our house wasn't dirty and stinky. He said it had been awhile since we had done chores, so it was starting to be a little stinky. Rylee then piped into the conversation and said, "Yeah. Our house is stinky because I tooted last night!" We were all cracking up! Somehow, farts seem to be SO funny so the kids kept talking about them. Our daddy said something about how his toots smell like flowers and the kids quickly disagreed! Logan said, "No dad! Your toots smell like OLD cheese!" Then Rylee said, "Dad, your toots smell like poop!" Gotta love the honesty of kids and the topic of toots! They giggle so much whenever that topic comes up!
Today, I told Avery she was a little stink! Then, she said, "No! Ry!" It was so funny! After that, it became a bit of a game. I would say, "Are you a stink?" and she would say, "NO! Daddy!" or "No! Ry stink!" She thought she was hilarious! She is talking so much now and loves to tease.
Rylee is a very observant child. She seems to notice just about everything. Like my zits! They never get past her. She is always asking me why I have them. The other day, I had one that was pretty large. Rylee said, "Oh mom! You have a goose egg!" I told her it was just a zit and she said, "No mom. Zits don't look like that. Big bumps are goose eggs." Thanks Rylee!
Logan has a rather funny vocabulary and sometimes I just think he sounds like an old man. The other day, he said, "Sorry about all that ruckus." Today, we were having a conversation, and I don't remember what it was about, but at the end of it he said, "Yeah, mom. Lit-ER-AL-LY!" What???? He is SIX!
Our nice neighbors shared some of the zucchini from their garden with us since our garden didn't do so well this year. Rylee loves all veggies and was talking about something but she kept saying "zuzukis" instead of zucchinis. Daddy asked her what a zuzuki was and she said, "You know. It is just like a squash, but about the size of a rabbit and our neighbors gave them to us." Not sure where the rabbit comparison came from...
I love the funny things my kids do and say! I wish I was better at remembering them all! I am going to miss being entertained all day when they go back to school in a couple weeks!

Moments...
Just a few moments from this last week...
Logan went on a little lunch date with Dad. Just the 2 of them for Chinese food. Just a little bit after they left, I got on my call on my cell from Darren and when I answered it, I heard Logan's cute little voice on the line. He told me he was having Egg drop soup and then he said, "I just wanted to call you because I missed you." How sweet is that? I love that boy!
Yesterday, Rylee got in trouble for pushing Avery off the couch and got sent to her room for a time-out. When I went up to talk to her, she was standing right inside the door. She had one of her purses packed to the brim with stuff and over her shoulder and a big bouncy ball under her other arm. As soon as I answered the door, she said, "I'm going to Mexico!"
One of Avery's new favorite words is Snuggle! She loves to climb up on my lap and say "Nuggle". Just typing it doesn't do it justice! She says it SO cute! We also did S'mores in the backyard this week and the way she said smore was so funny it had us all laughing. She is at such a fun stage and just in the last little bit has started to talk so much.

Conversations with Rylee
Rylee is a pretty funny girl these days. She cracks me up all the time!
Yesterday, we were getting ready for church and she was telling me about something that started with the letter P. She said, "You know, not the P that comes out of your privates, but P! Like the one that says Puh and starts with Grandma Pat."
This morning, Rylee was making a picture for her friend, Madi. She made us deliver it to Madi's mailbox today. While she was making it, she started talking about Madi's brother, Morgan. I have suspected for awhile that she might have a bit of a crush on him because she is always talking about him, but I was hopeful that she was much too young for that. She told her daddy that she wanted to make a picture for Morgan, too. Then she said, "We don't really play together because we aren't friends. I just like to look at him because he's SO handsome!" She is FOUR! We are in serious trouble!
Today, Rylee wanted to play that she was going to Mexico with her friend, Madi. Madi wasn't here, Rylee was just pretending. She does that a lot. She packed all of her things into a couple of her purses and then arrived at the "hotel" - her bedroom. I guess I was in charge of the hotel, so she asked me where the pool was. I started speaking in Spanish to her (well..using some of the few Spanish words that I know...) and told her they only speak Spanish in Mexico. After that, all of her conversations were in this hilarious accent that I guess is supposed to be Spanish! I was laughing so dang hard!!! She is quite the little actress.
One more moment that made me smile... Last night, we were driving home late from my Mom's. The kids were asleep, or so we thought. When we got into the canyon, we lost the radio reception, so Darren turned on the CD player and his Kenny Chesney CD started. It was the song "We went out last night." Immediately, we hear Logan humming along. I look back and he has this huge grin and is bobbing his head and humming, but with his eyes closed pretending that he is asleep. It was so cute!

Just the Usual
I have been meaning to post these recent funny conversations for awhile, but haven't sat down at the computer long enough to finish doing it! My kids are the funniest people I know. Here are a few recent examples...
I was putting Legos together with Logan, which has been a full time job lately with all the new sets he got for his birthday. I was looking for a particular piece and I couldn't find it and said we might have to order a new one. He kept telling me he knew it was there and found it and then looked at me and shook his head and said, "Mom, sometimes you really concern me."
Logan came in and laid in bed with us the other morning and out of the blue he said, "When I turn 13, I'm going to build my own protocol droid." When I asked him more about it, he said that the droid can do all his chores and he can just sit around and play video games.
We were putting Rylee to bed the other night and she randomly brought up the curlers that I use in her hair sometimes. I think she might have seen them in the drawer when I was getting her toothbrush out. She was telling Darren how she didn't like wearing them and he told her how pretty she looked with them and she said, "No. They make me look like Michael Jackson's sister."
The other day, Logan and Rylee got into a fight. I was outside with Avery and Rylee came out with all of her Polly Pocket Princesses in a bag and got on her bike and told me she was packed and was running away to her friend Savanna's house. I asked her how long she was going to stay and she said, "FOREVER!" I told her I would be sad and she said, "Ok. I'll just go there for a night and a day." Somehow I convinced her to stay. That was our first running away threat. I'm sure there will be many!
We have been reading the Magic Tree House books together and the kids love them! They love to play Jack and Annie and pretend they are the characters from the book. We finished one of the books the other day and they were in total Jack and Annie mode while we were getting into beds. Logan said to Rylee, "Good night, Annie. Tomorrow - Same place, Same time - Another adventure!" So cute!!!
My brother got a ball python snake! YIKES!!! It is pretty big. We were visiting the other day and Darren loves reptiles and stuff and couldn't wait to hold it. He tried to get the kids to touch it, too, but Logan was NOT going anywhere close. Rylee walked right up to it and started petting it and was loving it. Logan said, "See Rylee! You just rush right into danger. I like to think about things before I do them and be cautious."
Logan just finished his first t-ball season (HOORAY!!!) and I survived coaching 4 and 5 year olds! It was fun, but a bit stressful. Logan's favorite place to play was catcher. Want to know why? Because before each batter, he would sing a little song before he would place the ball on the tee... You know the one.... da-da-da-dum-da-dun...play ball! Then he would do some commentary, like "up to bat now for the Jays number 14". Crazy kid! He also liked to play first, only he would never pay attention because he was always talking to the base runners. I asked him what he was doing and he told me he was "giving them advice"
Logan gave a talk on the Holy Ghost in church a couple weeks ago. The mic wasn't working, so he just read it without the mic. He did a great job. Right before he finished, the mic came back on. He stopped and said, "Huh? Did something just happen to the microphone?"
Logan got several new Lego sets for his birthday. Legos are his current obsession! We had his family party the day before his birthday and he got 3 new sets! He is a spoiled little boy! Right before he opened his presents from mom and dad on his actual birthday, he said, "If I get one more Lego set that will be FOUR in TWO days and I am going to FREAK out!" I think he also mentioned his head exploding...
And my Avery... Her new favorite word is "lego" since Logan's are everywhere around the house right now. She says it so funny, especially with her gruff little voice. I laugh every time I hear it!
Avery is also my candy baby. She wants to have it all day! For Logan's birthday, we had a pinata and there was lots of broken candy in the driveway and that girl could NOT leave it alone! She is like a little scavenger. She is always climbing onto the counters if she sees any and the other day Darren was eating some in the car and she FREAKED until he shared.
Avery was also the cutest addition to Logan's party. I will have to post some pictures soon. We dressed her up as Yoda and it was adorable! Rylee also loved the party and has insisted on Leia piggies in her hair every day since!
Avery has also gotten over her shyness and loves people. She is always walking up to people and saying "hi!" and waving in their face and just staring at them. She especially loves babies and thinks anyone under 3 is a baby (even if they are bigger than her!) and will run up to them and say "BABY!" She loves to tell everyone our family's names, almost like she is introducing us. She goes through the list whenever she talks to anyone... "Log, Ry, Mama, Dad" and she calls herself "vry". She also has started calling any adult man "dad" and any adult woman "Mom". I think she doesn't know what else to call them. It is different than the way she says it for Darren and I though.
Sorry - This post ended up much longer than planned. I just think my kids are so funny and I don't want to forget this fun stage they are in!

Heavenly
Tonight, we had Family Home Evening, a Monday night tradition at our house. However, Rylee has given it a new name. She can't quite get that big long phrase out of her mouth, or it somehow got very jumbled, so she calls it "Heavenly Fam Evening" It made me laugh! But, I guess that is an appropriate name... or at least that is what we are shooting for.
In some other recent news, Miss Avery got her first REAL hair cut. She has had some trims, but never a real cut into a little style, and I think it was about 3 inches off in some places. It is a super cute little a-line bob with bangs and she looks adorable. I would add a picture, but it is still on my camera and I'm too lazy at the moment. Just take my word for it - It is stinkin' adorable! I'm sure I will get a few pictures of it on the blog in about 3 months or so... The only problem with her cute hair cut - She looks SO grownup!
Pottermania has also started in our household. Actually, Darren and I have been fans for awhile, but the kids have now been introduced. Logan and I have been reading the first book of Harry Potter for the last few weeks and just finished it last week when school got out. I loved how into it he was! As a reward, we let the kids have a late night and watch the Harry Potter movie. They LOVED it! Each time they would go on to the next part of the book, Logan said, "Chapter 1: Privet Drive" or "Chapter 6: Quidditch" He remembered almost all of them and would get so excited for his favorite parts, which I think were when Harry and Ron battled the troll and when they played Quidditch. The next morning, the kids spent the entire morning playing Harry Potter and doing spells. My favorite was when Logan asked what the spell to wake someone up was and I didn't know, so he came up with "Rise and Sun Up!" You probably had to be there, but it was quite funny! For breakfast, they changed the name of their cereal to "Wizard Crisps" and a couple other funny wizard names. I love when they use their imaginations so well and it was so funny to listen to them and when they play together like that, it is PURE heaven! The only problem was that Rylee kept insisting she was the Queen of Hogwarts and Logan kept insisting that Hogwarts had NO Queen! If I asked them to do a chore, they immediately wanted to know how many "house points" they were going to get. It was an awesome bribe for me! And when Rylee was really naughty, Logan told her that she had lost 5 house points and that I had also lost 5 house points for getting mad at her. The things my kids teach me.
I have been having a hard time with my Rylee lately. She just seems to be causing a lot of trouble and she is really testing my patience. Last night, I read a fabulous talk from the conference Ensign. It got me thinking a lot and rethinking how I parent and discipline. I tried much harder today and got much better results. It will be a process but I am so thankful for that answer! Heavenly Father knows what we (and our kids) need! Here is the link if you want a good talk on parenting -

And...Summer is here! This week is crazy running from Logan's soccer camp and Rylee's little day camp, but it should be fun. Logan ended school last Wednesday and on Thursday we had some errands and things to do and on the way home he said, "Mom, You really need to plan some fun things for summer. This is so boring!" Yes...ONE day into it and he was already complaining! Hopefully, it will get more exciting for him. If you have any fabulous summer ideas, I would love to hear them!

Recent Happenings...
This post is totally random but just a few funny recent things that have happened. I really like journaling some of the funny things my kids do and this is the best way I have found to remember to do it. Here are some things from this week...
Avery performed her very own frenectomy this week. If you aren't sure what that is, don't feel bad. I wouldn't either if I wasn't married to a Dentist. It is basically a procedure where they have to cut back the little piece of skin that connects the gums to the lip right in the front of your mouth. Sometimes it is too tight and can cause the teeth to have a gap between the 2 front teeth. Avery's is like that and Darren has always thought he would probably have to eventually cut hers. Well... Not anymore! She did it herself! I put her down for a nap the other day and she cried for a really long time, which isn't normal. So, after about 15 minutes I went in and she had some blood on her face and shirt and was saying "ow, ow" and pointing to her mouth. I couldn't see anything in there and she isn't getting any teeth, so I was a little confused, but I laid down with her on my bed and she finally calmed down and went to sleep. Later that day, Darren discovered that she had ripped her frenum! It looked gross, but he said it is fine and now he won't have to do that later. I guess that is what she results to when she is mad.... We might have to be a little careful with her!
Avery has also started this funny new thing where she wants to ride everything like a pony. When we visited our friend's in Boise, they do this fun little rhyme about a pony named Jack and they bounced her and she loved it! Now she will climb on you and start bouncing and say "po" for pony. It is pretty funny!
Avery has also started hating going to bed. She was doing GREAT for awhile and would say "ni-ni" so sweet when you would lay her down, but for the last week she has been crying just about every night. As soon as I finish singing to her, she will say "la" over and over while I am putting her in her bed which I finally figured out means that she wants another song. It is so sweet she usually gets at least one extra song out of me, but it is never enough. She always wants more!
The other morning Rylee went into the potty and Avery followed her. (Avery likes to try and help Rylee wipe...Its not such a great thing!) We could hear Rylee saying something about being out of "wiping paper". She usually SCREAMS for us repeatedly (in a not so nice way!) when she is done going potty to come and wipe her, but a few minutes later she just came out of the bathroom. We asked her why she didn't call us and she said she wiped herself. Darren said, "I thought there wasn't any toilet paper." Rylee said, "We were out of wiping paper, so I just used some blow your nose paper instead."
It seems since Rylee has been potty trained we have a lot of potty related discussions, so sorry for that. The other day, she came rushing in to go potty and sat down to go while I was doing my hair. She was rather bothered that she had to stop playing to go potty and she said in a very frustrated tone, "Ugh! I wish I didn't have to go to the bathroom!" Then, she thought for a second and said, "At least I wish I was a boy and could just stand up to go potty!"
Last night at dinner, we had cantaloupe. Rylee LOVES fruit and wanted a 4th helping when I told her she had probably had enough. She asked why she couldn't have more and I told her she might get a tummy ache and have problems going potty. She said, "I wish I was still 3!" I asked why and she said," Then I could eat as much fruit as I want and just poop it out in my diaper." Good table talk, for sure!
Mr Logan had his BIG Kindergarten program this week. He did awesome and was such a passionate and animated singer! We loved watching him. He loved all those songs and I am sure he will probably be weird like me and still remember them when he is 30 years old. (I still sing songs from 1st grade all the time...) Besides singing, the kids also did the Virginia Reel, which was so cute with their partners! But my favorite part of the program was when the boys did a poi ball dance. It was awesome! Logan's face was bright red because he was so intense on his spinning! I loved it! At the end, the teacher presented each kid with a special memory book. When Logan went up, I told him he needed to look at Mom and Dad so we could take his picture. I said he could hug his teacher if he wanted. He watched the other kids for a minute and said, "No mom. Just a handshake!" But, when he went up, he gave his teacher a BIG hug! She told me after how touched she was by it. Logan is such a sweet and tender boy. I just love him!
This weekend, my family went up to the cemetery near by to see where my Grandpa was buried. It has been a tradition ever since I could remember on Memorial Day weekend since my Grandpa died when my dad was very young and none of us ever knew him. As soon as we stepped out of the car, Logan saw the LARGE marker by our family plots that says, "BOMAN" and he pointed and said rather matter of factly, "Oh. I see where Jeff is going to die." (Jeff is my 18 year old brother) It was hilarious! He was pretty funny in the cemetery though and really studied my Grandpa's grave marker for quite awhile. Today, we were talking about what we were going to do tomorrow and he said, "It's Memorial Day. We just have to remember all our Great-Grandpas who died." He was pretty serious about it and it was just funny the way he said it. You probably had to be there...
Yesterday, after the cemetery, my brothers came over and played Kinect with Logan for awhile. Logan is EXTREMELY competitive and HATES to lose....(I have NO idea where that trait comes from...) He somehow was matched against my brother Brad, who is 16. He actually beat him in the first 2 games they tried. Then, was boxing. Logan was winning, but it ended up being a draw and Logan was quite upset. They were about to start a new game and Logan said,"I'm done! I'm not playing anymore." When we asked him why he said, "Brad almost beat me in boxing and I'm supposed to be a professional!" Just typing it doesn't really do it justice... You needed to see his intensity, but it was pretty funny!
Wow...I thought this would be just a short little post, but I guess I had more to say than I thought. I need to do better at writing all my funny conversations with my kids! They always make my day better!
