Logan - Age SEVEN
At the end of June, Logan turned SEVEN! Why does that sound like such a different age group than 6? It just seems so much more grown up to me and makes me feel old that I can have a seven year old! I had a little birthday interview with him and here are some of his favorites at age 7...
Favorite Color: Blue - Light and Dark
TV Show: Wild Kratts and Ninjago:Masters of Spinjitsu...but you don't have to write Masters of Spinjitsu, Mom. You can just write Ninjago.
Favorite Movie: Star Wars Episode 2 - Because it has more fights than all the others.
Favorite Food: Anything meat or Ice Cream - "I'm like a carnivore. I love meat!"
Favorite Treat: Ice Cream
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: Vanilla or Maple Nut

Favorite Restaurant: Pizza Pie Cafe
Favorite Star Wars Character: Luke Skywalker or Yoda
Favorite Ninjago Guy: Zane... and Jay... They are really funny

Favorite Bday Present: Samurai Mech (Ninjago Lego set)
Favorite Stuffed Animal: All of them that are mine... Buffalo, Dino Pillow Pet, Lion, Beckham... (He doesn't really sleep with them anymore, but he is still pretty attached to them and stresses that I will get rid of them all the time!)
Favorite Game: Anything that has to do with Electronics
Favorite Video Game: Pixar Rush or Lego Star Wars (He also loves the Kinect Disneyland game and Kinect Sports)
Favorite Bedtime Song: The Real Salt Lake anthem
Best Friends: Carter B, James R, Morgan J, Spencer S

What makes you happy: Almost anything!
What makes you sad: Almost nothing
What makes you laugh: Really funny things like when Spencer meant to fall on the blue bar (I don't know what that is about...) or a funny dream and Kruncha and Knuckle (Ninjago guys...)
What makes you angry: Almost nothing (I would say when his sisters mess up his legos...)
What do you dream about: Mostly funny dreams like Kruncha and Knuckle hopped out of the computer and started whacking each other in the head with their bone clubs!
What do you want to be when you grow up: Paleontologist at DisneyWorld Dinoland USA - (He came up with this idea and couple months ago. He couldn't decide if he wanted to be a Paleontologist or if he wanted to be a Disney Imagineer. Then he came up with this - He could be an imagineer at DinoUSA in the Animal Kingdom at Disneyworld. He was pretty excited that he could do both!)
What are your favorite things to do/play: Play with friends, Legos, Video Games, Hang out with my family, visit fun places... "then put etc." (Yep... he really said that!)
What was your favorite thing about being 6: Everything I did when I was six.
What are you excited about being 7: Having this summer
Logan is such a funny and special little boy. He is quickly growing up and showing a lot of signs of entering that new stage of his life. One that I have dreaded. I think he is quickly becoming a "tween!" He has started to be more sassy, which is not really something we have had to deal with from Logan in the past. He uses phrases like "that's not fair!" and "why should I?" all of a sudden and sometimes I wonder where my baby went! He is still very sweet most of the time. He will still hold my hand in public, although he will occassionally wipe kisses off! He still loves to snuggle up with us and he still sucks his thumb and loves to rub your finger while he does that and hold it close to his face. I don't know if he will ever outgrow that...
I frequently tell people that Logan is a 70 year old in a 7 year old's body. He just seems like an old man sometimes. He loves to read the paper in the mornings while he eats his breakfast and especially check on "his team's" scores. He only eats the most plain flavored things. He uses some of the funniest phrases for a little boy and has detailed explanations about everything and a better vocabulary than me! He is extremely cautious about everything. And he is always reminding me that things are "inappropriate." For example, I took him to the drive-in this summer to see Ice Age 4 and he told our primary President that the movie was ok, but was "way too inappropriate for kids!" What??? I also bought a video game rated T and Logan likes to remind me that he isn't supposed to be playing those kind of inappropriate games.
One of the things I love about Logan most is his passion for life. He is always so happy and gets so excited about things and it makes life more fun at our house. When he loves something, it almost consumes him and he becomes obsessed! He has a few things he is so passionate about and he learns so much about them and is an expert on them. For awhile, he has been really into dinosaurs and Star Wars. He knows so much about both. He can tell you all about light sabers - Like who uses which kind and what type of crystal is inside them and where that is mined. It is crazy! He also loves sports and can quote all kinds of statistics - including jersey numbers and where players are from and the scores of games. Over the last year or so, he has gotten really into legos. He has several Lego dictionaries and can tell you all about all the different types of sets and information like how many peices they have and what year they were made. It is crazy! He has started to really like fancy cars (which is something his dad also loves!) and he loves to spot cars and wants to know about their models, how fast they can go and how much they cost. He recently started loving Ninjago and talks about it non-stop. It is almost an illness! He really can't stop! He wakes up first thing in the morning and just starts going on and on about all things Ninjago. And he just went with Darren to the air show in May and has become really into airplanes. He is always looking them up on the ipad and wanting to know about their wingspans and how much they cost. The crazy thing is he usually remembers everything about all of this! I have no idea how he could possibly remember it all but he does! He is like a big sponge!
Logan is an incredibly bright kid. He just gets things. School comes really easy for him and his test scores are always off the charts. He has an amazing memory and capacity for learning and amazes us constantly. He loves learning and his favorite books to read are usually books about nature or fact books, like his lego encylopedia or his dinosaur dictionary. He loves to quote us random facts about things. He has read a lot of other books for school and some of his favorites are the Magic Treehouse series and the A to Z mysteries series. He and Rylee play Magic treehouse together all the time. It is really cute. (He has also started teaching Rylee about legos and Ninjago...) Logan can do math really fast in his head. Faster than me. And he loves science and especially leanring about animals.
Logan is a very gentle spirit. He gets scared easily and has a lot of anxiety about anything that he isn't sure about... like the rides at Disneyland or going to the store in the month of October when there are spooky Halloween decorations around. It is a little sad how terrified he gets. But I think that is part of what makes him so sweet and caring. He is the BEST big brother EVER! He is so kind to the girls and rarely fights with them. This has gotten worse in the last month or so ( I think it is part of that beginning "tween" transformation...) but for the most part he lets them play with him and includes them and is so kind to them. And our girls are a little crazy sometimes. Even when they are beating him up, he won't fight back. He has a special love for little Bronson and they seem to already have a strong bond. Logan is so gentle with him and soft and before he was born, all Logan could talk about was how excited he was to snuggle him. Bronson LOVES when Logan talks to him and gives him the biggest smiles. You can tell he looks up to him already.
Logan is a people person. Everyone who knows Logan just loves him. He has such an infectious personality. It is hard not to be happy when you are around him. He is a great friend to others and is so kind and always includes everyone. He is always concerned about others and never wants to hurt anyone's feelings or make anyone feel bad. He loves his friends and begs for playdates with them all the time. I guess that is another sign he is growing up - He would rather go play with someone else than hang out with his family!
Logan has many amazing qualities... He is not one that likes to work! He complains about his chores constantly and hates to clean his room or work in the yard and always thinks it isn't fair! He also doesn't know how to tie his shoes yet and hates to practice! I think this is because most things come so easy to him that he doesn't really know how to work for things. He also has a hard time being neat with his schoolwork sometimes. He is getting better at taking time and writing neat.
Logan hates to dress up. He loves to be comfy. He loves to wear his ratty old tshirts and sweat pants and basketball shorts and would do that every day if I would let him!
Logan is a pretty avid sports fan. He loves his Aggies! He kept running into Brady Jardine over this past year in a lot of places and Brady remembers him now because Logan always wants to run up and say hi to him. He has lots of jersey numbers and stats memorized, mostly for basketball but a little for football, too. He loves to go to the games and he cheers like crazy! Especially for his favorite players! He also loves Real Salt Lake and loves when he gets to go with Daddy to those games. He is a big Jazz fan and for some reason he also loves the Miami Heat. He also is very excited to watch the Summer Olympics and cheer for the USA!
Logan is a typical boy who LOVES his electronics! I can get him to do just about anything if he wants to play Xbox. He also loves to play Daddy's ipad or on the computer or watch Ninjago or the Kratt Brothers (which is a cartoon where they learn about animals on PBS). He doesn't love to be outside as much at the girls. He would rather stay in and play electronics. When he is outside, he LOVES his scooter! He is so fast at it. And a bit wreckless! Which is a little different for someone so cautious. He finally learned to ride a 2 wheeler this year. The only reason he tried is because Rylee wanted her training wheels off. He wouldn't try it before because he was worried he would fall and he told him he probably would. Once Rylee was doing it, he wanted to do it, too and learned really fast. Logan's worst punishment is if he gets electronics taken away!
Logan has been playing piano for awhile now and is getting pretty good. It is usually a struggle to get him to practice, but he learned the Star Wars theme for his recital in May and loved learning it. He had it memorized and loved playing it for people. He is also still playing soccer. He loves it. He loves being out there with the other kids and he loves the game. He sometimes seems to be more of a bystander than a player. I think he gets a bit caught up in the excitement sometimes and forgets to play. Sometimes he is even doing play-by-play commentary. (I think if the Paleotologist carreer doesn't work out, he would be a great sports caster!) He also took swimming lessons again and is starting to be a really good swimmer. He tried Jr Jazz basketball for the first time this year and he LOVED it and he also played tball again this year. He was much more aggressive this time and loved playing pitcher and first base where he could be in on the action all the time. It was fun watching him and Rylee play together and the difference in their personalities out there.
Logan has a really creative mind. He doesn't love to do art projects and things like that, but he is very creative and imaginative in his play and it is so funny to listen to him while he is playing. His imagination runs constantly. He is always making up the best stories or coming up with these "what if?" scenarios and then will keep expanding on them and making up all kinds of things. I love when he plays and gets into imagination mode. I just wish that he would write down some of his stories because they are amazing. But, writing is not really his thing. It takes too long and he is always in a hurry to do something else. He just wakes up in the morning going a million miles an hour talking about something. Right now it is usually Ninjago. He goes like that all day tell us all sorts of information about them and making up stories and situations for the characters and even clever dialogue. Sometimes the amount of Ninjago information he give me is more than I can handle but I love how creative and imaginative he can be. He also likes to make up documentaries about animals and things. It is pretty funny! He has a great voice for voice-overs and I really think he could have a career in announcing someday.
Logan is hilarious. He keeps us laughing all the time. Sometimes its not really on purpose. Just funny quotes and lines come out of his mouth. He talks like an adult and uses words and phrases well beyond his years. He has a little bit of a silly personality though and loves to make up jokes and make people laugh. He loves being around our families and making all of his aunts, uncles and cousins laugh. If I was better at writing down everything he said, I would have a BIG book that would be pretty darn funny! I love him! He keeps things so much fun!
Logan is such a special part of our family. One of the reasons I love him so much is because he made me a mom. I love all my children so much and I don't love any one more than another. But there is something truly special about your first born. Maybe its because you feel sorry for all the things you mess up with them as you learn about being a parent. I just love my Log-Bog. He is constantly teaching me so much. About love. About friendship. About being Christlike. About passion and happiness. About kindness. About learning and life. He has the best heart! He is a great example to me and so many more. I want to be more like him!
