May Wrap-Up Post...

Here are some of the odds and ends from our month of May...
May 4 - Ry was playing in Avery's room one day and was talking to and playing with all the stuffed animals so cute. She had named them all (rhyming names, of course!) and was so funny! She has a great imagination - And she dressed herself that day...
May 5 - Avery can always manage to find treats and she was so happy with herself for sneaking this cookie! She is our sugar baby for sure!
May 7 - Grandpa Boman came to watch Logan's game and Rylee couldn't wait for him to swing her! He got her going so high!!! It was making me a little nervous at times, but Rylee loved it and so did Grandpa.

How sweet is this?
And Rylee got a ride home in Grandpa's cool car. My kids like to call it Lightning McQueen.
May 8 - My cute little brother Brad turned SIXTEEN!!! Watch out ladies! And all pedestrians...
And Logan thought it would be fun to eat the giant blue sugar bow on Uncle Brad's cake...
May 11 - Avery loves when daddy chases and tickles her! They play so cute together! She is a crazy girl.
May 12 - Logan colored this picture after our Family Home evening lesson on the First Vision. I LOVE it! It is actually still on my fridge. If you know Logan, you know he hates to color and draw very often, so this picture is very impressive for him! And...I never knew they had Palm trees in the Sacred grove! May 12 - Miss Rylee graduated from Joy School and is SO excited for REAL preschool next year! She wanted to start the very next day.

May 15 - The kids were really excited to plant seeds in this little greenhouse Daddy bought. It is our FIRST year having a garden and we are really looking forward to growing some fresh food. Sadly, these little seeds didn't end up doing very well. They were going crazy in the greenhouse thing, but when we transplanted them, most of them ended up getting ripped out by the wind and they didn't survive. So.... it might not be the most productive garden, but we had a good time giving it a try. I love how excited she is! Who would have known planting some seeds would be so entertaining?
May 16 - Avery into another mess! This time it was Logan's leftover cupcakes from his soccer party and they were very GREEN!!!
May 15 - Avery is always asking to sit on the potty. The pulls up her shirt and tries to take off her diaper and says "pot" over and over until you let her sit there. She has yet to actually GO in the potty but she loves to sit on it and to wipe and throw LOTS of toilet paper in the toilet. She really likes to wipe Rylee, which doesn't go over well...

May 15 - Avery really likes to dress herself, but this look didn't work out so well for her...

May 19 - Avery chowing down some yummy chocolate pudding! This is one of her new favorite treats.
May 21 - Avery loves to hide! On this day, she scared me to death when I came into the bathroom for something and turned around and saw her little eyes looking at me from the tub! She was thrilled with herself!
May 26 - Logan after his Kindergarten program with his awesome book Ms Renee made for him. He had a great Kindergarten year! I can't believe it is over!
May 26 - Logan's school had a special Medieval night celebration for the end of school. The kids were so excited to go and they had a great time! The lines to do the activities were just about as long as some of the lines at Disneyland, but they didn't seem to mind too much. Luckily, they didn't notice all the things we skipped! I think Avery's favorite part was the lovely BLUE ice cream!
Luckily, this cone kept her pretty occupied in the stroller for most of the night because it was a little crazy!
Logan liked the ice cream, too... And so did Rylee...
One of the activities with no line was making a sword! This was one of the kids' very favorite things. They loved doing this!
I love that Logan wrote "Flameing Sword" on his
Once they made their swords, they got knighted (or Princessed if that is even a word...) and they got a crown. They were supposed to do all the other activites first and earn a sticker at each station to be knighted, but because the lines were so long, they didn't make them, which was great because I think we would have had some tears if they weren't able to be knighted! Rylee's turn
Logan in the stocks
One of the stations was falconry and the kids got to see and touch some birds.
Rylee working the catapult. This was a favorite with the kids for sure! I was a little worried that it was going to launch Rylee, too, but she stayed on the ground!
Logan and his buddy Carter in the jail with their swords.
May 27 - Darren had to do some work on his computers at work and needed our friend's help, so I watched all the kids. The kids played for awhile, but it got pretty late and all the kids were getting sleepy so we had a movie night and the kids looked so cute with all their blankies and pillows. They loved it and were so mad when the daddies got home! Cute buddies - Logan let Carter borrow his Buffalo, which is a pretty big deal!
May 28 - Our yearly trip to the cemetary to see where my Grandpa is buried. It was a little cold that day, but we had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Boman
This girl was all over the cemetary! She is a little bit crazy these days!
After the cemetary, we stopped at Cafe Rio with Grandma and Grandpa and the boys for lunch. Avery LOVES her Cafe Rio black beans! She was looking fabulous by the time we were done!
May 29 - Just a little photo shoot of Miss Avery who is 20 months in these pictures. I can't believe how big she is! This dress is the one she wore to my sister's wedding and I think this was about the last time she could squeeze into it, so I decided to take some pictures.
Oh, that pouty face....

Yeah.... Maybe now I can finally get some summer pictures posted! We have been having a great time and doing lots of fun things!

Avery at 20 Months

Oops... I have done it again! I went to start Avery's 22 month post, and noticed I didn't finish her 20 month one. I did do most of the journaling... I just didn't finish. I wish I could be one of those people that stayed caught up on everything!!! How do you do it? I am always behind on everything! Anyway - Here is a little - or maybe LONG post - about Avery at 20 months. A lot of these pictures are repeats, but since I am doing this for Avery's baby book, I wanted to include them here, too. So, you may just want to skip this post entirely. It is mostly only stuff her mom would care about anyway... (March 26 - May 25)Mar 29 - Avery out to dinner for Rylee's birthday. She loves going out! But...she doesn't love sitting in her high chair! She hates it. It makes dinner difficult for all of us. She wants to be like the big kids or she wants to sit in my lap. Even at home, she won't even sit in her booster anymore. She wants to sit on a regular chair. Or at breakfast, she will stand by me and say "lap" over and over until I let her sit on my lap to eat. Little stinker!
Enjoying some of sister's birthday cake and ice cream - This girl LOVES a treat! I have never had a baby so addicted to candy and sweets!
April 30 - Hanging out with Aunt Vanessa at Rylee's birthday party. She is getting better and better with other people and babysitters! Yeah!
April 3 - Cute twinner sisters at Rylee's family birthday party. Rylee really likes to dress like Avery. She is always asking if they can match and I think it is so cute! And that is just about the only way Rylee will let me pick her clothes, so it is a good thing - otherwise, she comes up with some crazy stuff! April 4 - Avery LOVES to swing! This was at the park with some friends for Spring Break. She loves going just about anywhere. She is always standing at the door and asking to "go"! She especially loves playing outside, so a trip to the park is a good day for Avery.
She also loved riding these little animals on springs. She really had them rocking! She is not afraid of anything and is a bit of a crazy girl sometimes! April 4 - Avery at her 18 month well check appointment. Everything looked great! And she survived FOUR shots. She only cried for a second and as soon as she had a sucker, she was totally fine. Her 18 month stats were: 22 lbs (21%), 32 1/2 inches (72%) and head was 76%.Zonked out on the way home after shots... April 8 - Avery out to dinner for Mommy's birthday. April 9 - Just eating breakfast... I love the big milk drop on her chin. April 9 - Avery at Baby Animal days! I love how she is staring down the duck! She was a little nervous at first, but soon she was grabbing the animals and loving it. She kept pinching this guys' beak closed and I was afraid she was going to get bit!
Waiting to hold the bunnies... She is so darn cute!
April 10 - Avery all ready for churchApril 12 - Avery watching the pet frogs we got at Baby Animal Days. I think she has much more interest in them than the other kids. She stood up on a chair and watched them for quite awhile one day and was squealing watching them swim around. She kept saying "raw" which is how she says frog. She likes to make a ribbit sound too, but it is more of a growl.
April 17 - Avery hanging out and reading with Daddy before church.
April 19 - Avery is quite the little bookworm lately. She loves to sit and look at books. Some her favorites are lift the flap type books. She LOVES "Night, Night Baby", which was also Logan's favorite book. She also really loves this book that has pictures of all our family in it. She loves to point to pictures and name everyone she can. She is starting to learn more and more names and recognizes most of our family now. She is always pointing to pictures and asking "that?" or naming names. April 22 - Avery's first real experience dying eggs. She really liked it - She was pretty focused on painting them. I do think she broke more eggs than she painted though. This girl has so many facial expressions! I love it! April 22- Avery watching Logan's soccer game. I thought she looked so cute in her chair. She is so good to go along to all the big kids' events. This soccer season was COLD but she survived. There was one game where her and Rylee were both in my lap crying because they were freezing, but other than that, she was a trooper! Enjoying a ice cream treat after brother's soccer game. It was so cold we probably should have gone for hot chocolate, but everyone always loves ice cream at Casper's! April 23 - Avery on her first real egg hunt! Last year, she was a bit to small to really participate, but this year she was loving it and found lots of eggs. Rylee and Logan were really good to leave some easy ones for her and help her find them. They would get really excited for her. It was really cute!
Avery and her Easter basket
Avery being silly with Daddy after our egg hunt
April 23 - All ready to go to Grandma's house in her new outfitAt Grandma Pat's Easter egg huntApril 24 - In her cute new Easter Sunday outfit - She is now 19 months!
April 24 - Easter dinner at Grandma Boman's house. I love this picture! Grandma also gave her a sticky candy sucker as a special Easter treat - As you can see, she looks good in everything she eats! Love this face! She does this funny suprised face all the time and it always makes me laugh! I also love the pouty face she does. April 27 - We are definitely at that stage now where Avery is into everything! Especially if it is realted to candy or sweets! I went upstairs for something and came back and Avery was going to town on this leftover potty cake I had made for Rylee. She was shoving it in as fast as she could! Finger lickin' good! April 27 - Avery has a new trick! She has loved going down on slide for awhile, but I used to have to put her up there. She can now climb up the ladder all by herself! It was pretty scary to watch at first, but she was determined to do it and she now goes up just about as fast as the big kids! She always goes down the slide on her tummy backwards. She loves it and giggles all the way down! It was a cold spring, so we didn't get outside too much, but Avery LOVED it when she could swing! She stands at the door most days and asks "wee" for swing! She just loves being outside and she loves her swing. She is crazy and loves to go as high as you can push her!
May 3 - At another one of Logan's soccer games. Yes...it is spring and we are wearing fleece jackets and winter hats! She is stinkin' cute though! May 5 - Into another treat.... This time it was a cookie!
May 12 - Enjoying a cupcake at Rylee's JoySchool graduation
May 16 - Avery into another mess! This time it was a leftover cupcake from Logan's soccer party. VERY green!May 15 - Avery is always asking to sit on the potty. The pulls up her shirt and tries to take off her diaper and says "pot" over and over until you let her sit there. She has yet to actually GO in the potty but she loves to sit on it and to wipe and throw LOTS of toilet paper in the toilet. She also really likes to try and wipe Rylee, which doesn't go over well... The other problem is she is WAY into to taking off her diaper. Sometimes it will be filled with poop! So gross! She has done it in her crib a couple of times. One morning, I went in to get her and her whole room smelled like pee. She was in the crib totally naked and all her sheets were soaked and her diaper was sitting on the floor totally dry. I am pretty sure that she took it off BEFORE she fell asleep! Little stinker! May 15 - Avery is a very independent little girl and she likes to do things herself. She is really into trying to dress herself right now and especially loves to put on her own shoes. She is usually pretty good at it, but this day went a little wrong. She put her legs in the arm holes of her jacket! She couldn't figure out what was wrong!
May 17 - We tried out our fire pit for the first time and Avery loved it! She was so excited by the fire!
Having a taste of her first s'more
Sticky, but so cute! May 19 - One of Avery's new favorite treats is chocolate pudding! She loves it and gets so excited when I get it out! I keep trying to give her vanilla because it is a little less messy, but she wants nothing to do with it! She must be like her mamma...a chocolate girl! May 21 - Avery loves to hide and she is pretty good at it! She is really quite when she does and I find her hiding in my closet all the time. One day, I went into my bathroom for something and when I turned to come back out I saw this little face in the tub! It scared me to death!!! She thought it was hilarious! She kept saying "ide" and laughing. Silly girl!
May 23 - Avery got to come along on Rylee's Joy School field trip and she had a great time! She makes one cute little firefighter.
Avery up in the truck. She loved it and I had the hardest time getting her out!

So... here are a few of the things that Avery is doing at 20 months.

Probaby the biggest milestone is that Avery is officially done nursing! I don't know if I should be happy or sad about this. I had a hard time. I always do. I knew she didn't need it anymore. If I wasn't there, she would go to sleep just fine without nursing. And with all those teeth, she was not the easiest to nurse. Darren and I went away for my birthday (April 8) and she didn't nurse at all for 2 days. As soon as I got back though, she was doing the sign for milk and saying "mil, mil" and pulling my shirt up. We cut down to just mornings after that though and then I went away for Women's Conference and when I came back, I just stopped. She was pretty mad the first 2 mornings, but after that, she has never asked to nurse again. It is kind of nice to be done, but sometimes I miss that bonding time. She nursed until 19 months, which is about 5 months longer than both Logan and Rylee did.

Another big milestone was that Avery got 4 new teeth! She cut all FOUR of her canines on April 23! She had been a little grumpy for awhile and I guess that was the reason. Now all she has left is her 2 year molars and she will have a mouth full!

Avery loves treats! She is always trying to find candy and snacks and has the biggest sweet tooth of any of my kids. One of her favorite treats is string cheese. She goes to the fridge and asks for it all day. She also really likes the little Babybel cheeses that come in the little wheel wrapped in wax. If I unwrap it for her, she gets so mad! She wants to do it herself! Some of her other favorite treats are "Nacks" (fruit snacks) and "bars" (granola bars). She likes chocolate pudding too and she tries to say chocolate and it is the funniest thing! She also LOVES apples and is starting to say the word and it is so cute! She also started to say cereal and they way she does her L's is so funny. I love how she says it with her little tongue sticking out!

Avery has gotten pretty particular about bed time lately. She has certain books that she really likes and she will ask for when we are putting her to bed. She gets really mad if you don't understand what she is trying to tell you! Some of her favorites are "La" which are a couple of books that have Primary songs that we sing to her. She also likes her "Night, Night Baby" book with the flaps and her "mo" (elmo) book with the flaps. The other book she likes is 10 little Ladybugs and she calls that one "bug". After you read and sing to her and then lay her down, she says "night, night" and then I say "I love you to the moon and back" and she says "back". It is one of the best parts of my day!

Avery's favorite word right now is "Ummmm..." Every time you ask her a question, she answers "ummmm...." like she is thinking about it. It is really funny. Avery doesn't talk as much as my other kids did, but she is VERY good at communicating what she wants and she understands SO much! If I am not listening to her, she will grab my face and turn it towards her. She is a little demanding at times. She is starting to talk more and more every day and it is so fun to hear her say new things. Logan and Rylee love it and they are always saying "Avery said her first word!" even though they say that almost every day!

Avery has some VERY dramatic faces. When I do her hair, she loves to practice them in the mirror. She does a really good sad and mad face and a funny suprised face and loves to do happy face and point to her smile. She also has a book called "I love You Through and Through" and she has little faces and actions she will do with it while I read. Like it says "I love your nose...I love your toes" and she will point and it says "I love you happy... i love you sad..." and she will make the faces. My sister also taught her some faces to do attitude and gangster. Luckily, she doesn't seem to remember them much anymore.

Avery is really good at all of her body parts and points them out for us all the time. She even knows cheek and chin and knee. However, my favorite is elbow! She ALWAYS has a bow in her hair...or at least she starts out with one, although they don't always stay in. She even asks for one before we leave the house. However, she thinks an "elbow" refers to the bow in your hair, so instead of pointing to her elbow, she points to her head. It makes me laugh every time. I don't even correct her because I think its cute... Maybe she is fluent in Spanish.... you know.... El bow!

We are still working on liking nusery. Right now she hates it and screams a LOT! Hopefully it gets better soon. I hope they don't kick her out!

Avery is definitely approaching the terrible twos! She has recently started throwing REAL fits complete with stomping her feet. When she gets mad, she stomps and stomps while she is crying and then throws herself on the ground.

Avery loves her brother and sister. She wants to do everything they do! As soon as she wakes up in the morning and I get her from her crib (and she has to take all her stuff out with her still which always cracks me up!) she starts asking "da?" "Log?" "Ry?" All day she wants to know where everyone is. It is pretty cute! She is starting to say her own name, but she calls herself "vry" for now. She hasn't put the whole name together yet.

Avery LOVES the phone! She loves to talk on it and it is so funny to watch her. She always has her head cocked to the side and she says "k" a lot and then "bye". She also likes to play games on it and the little stinker has even figured out how to turn it on and unlock it! I used to give it to her turned off and she would get mad and throw it at me, but now she can just fix it herself. She also loves my ring tone. It is poker face and whenever it rings, she points to her face. It makes me laugh every time!

When Avery is done with her plate at dinner, she will hold it up and say "duh" for done. Sometimes she even attempts to clear it off herself! If I don't hear her right away, she will keep repeating it and doing the sign for finished and sometimes she will throw it at me!

One other thing Avery does a lot is raise her hand and say "I do!" or "Me!!!" We love it!
