CHEESE!!!

Avery smiled for the first time today! At least a REAL smile. She has had all the funny little gassy smiles that newborns have, of course, but today, I'm pretty sure they were real ones, although it is kind of hard to know. Since Avery was about 2 weeks old, she has had these sweet little half smiles while she stares at you. That is pretty early for a smile, but I could swear they were real. They weren't very big smiles and were maybe just a facial expression of hers, but she did them a lot while you talked to her and were so sweet. Today though it was unmistakable that she was smiling! It was such a big grin! Of course, she smiled for Daddy first! (Forget that I spend half my sleepless nights with her and a good portion of the day feeding her....) She smiled for him this morning and then again a few times tonight and I finally got one out of her late last night before bed! It is so cute! I can't wait to get a picture of it to share! Those sweet smiles make all the late nights and work well worth it!!!

Avery at 3 Weeks

Here are some photos of Avery between weeks 2 and 3! Still playing catch-up....
I LOVE these baby boots!!!
What a sweet face!
Taking a nap with Daddy - We love to sleep with her all cuddled up! It is the best thing when you have a new sweet baby. We went to cousin Ethan's blessing on Sunday. (Avery was 16 days old). I was pretty scared to have Avery out and about - especially when the guy next to us at church did this huge cough and looked like he was going to puke everywhere and then sniffled the whole time! We didn't go over to their house after because there were a lot of people in one place, but we did spend some time at my parent's and Avery got to meet her great-grandmas and Uncle Kyle for the first time. We were also able to see my Uncle Ric and Aunt Joan (I didn't get a picture) It was fun to see everyone and get out of the house for a bit and we were glad to be there for Ethan's big day.
I don't know why this photo won't turn, but isn't Avery cute in her little dress?
Avery with Great-Grandma Pauline
Avery with Great-Grandma Mary
Avery and Uncle Kyle - Everyone else in my family saw Avery at the hospital, but Kyle couldn't come in because he was under 14. He finally got to hold Avery when we visited. Doesn't she look happy to meet him?
What a cute uncle!
I love baby yawns!
Close-up!
Grandma and Grandpa Webber came up for a visit on Tuesday. They took us out to lunch, so Avery went on another little outing. We also got a picture of her with Grandma Pat since we somehow missed that at the hospital.
I love this cute baby girl!!!
My little brother got married on Thursday August 15th. (Avery was 20 days old) It was quite the day for us who hadn't even really been out of the house for 3 weeks, but it was a great day and we are so happy for Dean and Laura! Avery was an angel baby - She was so hungry but managed to make it through all the pictures at the temple without a meltdown! She took a binky and survived the pictures just fine. It was a beautiful day and Avery's first real time being outside and she loved it!
I had to document Avery's first visit to the temple!
Avery slept through the entire luncheon and then was ready for pictures at the reception. She looked adorable in the little dress that Laura picked for her. Rylee had a matching one in a different color - I will have to post more pictures of the wedding later. I didn't get a good one full length so I am hoping their photographer did. Of course she had one of her very first blowouts on her pretty dress! Avery was pretty good for the entire night and I didn't mind when she fussed a little because then I could go and hide her from all the people for a little bit. I'm a total germ-a-phobe I guess, but it was a little scary with swine flu and everything going around. Everyone loved her though and it was a really fun (and LONG) day for all of us!
Avery's other outings this week were to 2 of Logan's soccer games and a 1st trip to WalMart and we did not uncover her the entire time. Here are some other things about Avery at 3 weeks:
Avery has discovered using her arms and legs more and more and they are constantly going. I think it is so funny when little babies are just flailing around. She also likes to grab her hair and pull. It is a little funny, but also sad. She usually just grabs onto it, but when she pulls, it really upsets her and she cries, and then pulls harder and then cries harder. All of my kids have done this, but I just think it is a funny thing babies do. Avery follows us around with her eyes now. When you talk to her, she is so intense on your face and she has started to make some noises like she wants to talk. They are mostly grunts, which Logan calls "grints". He is always saying, "Mom, Avery said her first (or second, or third) word!" every time she makes noises. He is convinced she has said his name. So funny! Avery also loves to have her feet tickled - When she gets upset, I tickle the bottoms of her feet and it calms her down a lot of the time. She is holding her head up pretty well and getting really strong. When you hold her up on your shoulder, she will push off and try and look around. She doesn't like being held like that unless she is asleep - I think she likes to look around and see what is going on. She loves to be rocked and bounced and loves to fall asleep cradled in our arms. She is growing like crazy! I can't believe how big she is already! As for me, at three weeks, I started to finally feel a lot better and that my body was almost healed. No more soreness really. My clothes still don't fit and I am having some headaches, but they are now from lack of sleep! We still haven't got the sleeping at night figured out....

Boo at the Zoo

A couple weeks ago, I took Logan and Rylee to a little Boo at the Zoo activity at our local zoo - It is NOT the Hogle Zoo by any means, and to be honest, I don't know that the "Zoo" title actually applies - More of a park with a few animals. But the kids love to visit there and I was feeling guilty that they hadn't been out much since the baby was born, so we decided to go. Darren stayed home with Avery since it was pretty cold. It wasn't quite what I expected...a little ghetto, especially for the $6 per kid we paid to get in. There were only a few little booths and I thought for some reason there would be trick or treating and candy, but they only got a few pieces, so they were a little disappointed, but it was a good outing that they (and I) really needed!
It was pretty early in October, so I still didn't have their Halloween costumes, so we improvised! Rylee wore her Nemo costume from last year and Logan wore his Troy Bolton costume my sister gave him for his birthday. He was very bugged if people didn't know who he was!
Me and the kiddies! We met my friend Summer and her family there. They were on their way out, but I had her take a picture of all of us.
Ry posing in this Horton the Elephant cutout. Logan refused to do this but Rylee loved it!
Rylee with Curious George. She couldn't quite reach...
Logan and Rylee after digging through the big leaf pile for treasure. Logan came away with a Frisbee and Rylee got a bucket of sidewalk chalk.
Fishing for prizes! They also saw a fortune teller, which made them pretty nervous, but I was surprised that they actually went into the tent and did it.
In this game, they were supposed to throw the hoop over the pumpkin. Logan got quite into it. Their very favorite activity was just after this. There was a local gymnastics place that had a booth where they could jump from some mats onto a tramp onto some more mats. They LOVED that!
The classic bean bag toss! We also made a few little crafts, but the kids weren't really into it. They preferred to just run around! They had a lot of fun.

Avery at two weeks

I'm not keeping up on this too well, but here are some photos of Avery between week 1 and week 2. Luckily, I am figuring out how to feed the baby and type at the same time so I can work on staying updated in my many hours of feeding the baby! We are loving little Avery and she is getting so big so fast!!!
Avery watching soccer with Daddy! He has always loved to relax at night holding the babies (when we have one at our house.) Here is Avery's introduction to what will be hours and hours of soccer/basketball/football/Iron chef watching!
Avery really enjoyed Conference weekend! We all just relaxed and chilled out and it was a great time to listen to our leaders give us instruction. Unfortunately, I was pretty sleep deprived and fell asleep a few times, but what I heard was great!
Rylee loves to "hold" Rylee like this because she thinks she is doing it all by herself. Aren't they cute sisters?
Why is it that babies like to have their heads twisted all the way sideways like this? I guess they were pretty squished up in the womb, but it sure doesn't look comfortable! Avery seems to like it though - This is the position she chooses all the time!
Big brother and Avery - Logan likes to hold her by himself too! She is one loved baby....sometimes a little too loved! But she is surviving! Logan usually gets about 1 inch from her face and says "Hi Sweet girl" over and OVER! She doesn't seem to mind though. She has started to look for him when he talks to her and it is really cute. When Rylee talks (or yells) at her, she seems to get a little nervous...
Just chilling!

Darren's attempt to capture a smile on camera!
A real smile! Ok...a gassy one!
Cousin Ethan and Aunt Heather and Grandma Boman all came to visit Avery at 11 days old (Tuesday). Avery and Ethan didn't get too much bonding time because they were both eating and sleeping the whole time and were not both awake really at the same time. Avery has LOTS of cousins on the Webber side, but so far Ethan is the only cousin she has had the chance to meet. This is also the day that Avery lost her umbilical cord. I was a little sad about that!

Avery with her big brother and sister! I love these kids even though some days are a little hard right now! Of course, this is the best photo of everyone and it came out all blurry...
Another try! I can never seem to get a good picture of everyone! This is what my kids do when I tell them to show me their smile - They point to their mouth and then their hands are in their face for the picture!
I don't know why but I love photos of my little burrito baby! She is just such a cute tiny bundle

I can't get this photo to turn the right way, but isn't she sweet?
Another one of my many photo shoots of Avery. I just can't get enough of taking pictures of her!
I have photos of all my kids with a funny little smile so I was excited when I finally got one of Avery too. I will have to post them all for a comparison...

I love baby hats!

An eyes open picture! She seems to sleep in most of the photos I get or have funny half open eyes.

More pictures of her just being cute!

Since her umbilical cord fell out on Tuesday, Avery got a real bath on Wednesday. She LOVED it! Doesn't she look so sweet?

All wrapped up in her towel after a nice bath

Look at all that hair!!! It is quite a job to get it all dry!
Here is Avery at her 2 week Dr appointment! They had to do her 2nd little heel prick test (is that the PKU I think???) and she got upset for a minute, but she calmed right down. The Dr was amazed at what a good baby she was and said she was about the most perfect baby he had seen! I was amazed at her growth - In just two weeks, she was up to 8 lb 10 oz (almost a whole pound!) and 21 1/4 inches long!
Another successful outing to the Dr! Avery is such an easy baby, but she doesn't really like being put in her car seat. We have been trying to stay home as much as possible with all the bugs going around and flu season, but we did take a couple other little outings this week as well. Avery came with us to go to the health district for our swine flu vaccination. Luckily, we were in and out in about 10 minutes. We also went to Logan's soccer game on Thursday. I was pretty nervous about that with so many little kids around but I had her in her car seat with the cover on and then in the stroller with that cover on so I think she was pretty well protected. I felt bad that I missed 3 of Logan's games and all 5 of his goals, so we ventured out and of course, he didn't score this time. We also stopped and got some dinner at Juniper on our way home, so Avery had her first dinner out. She was great and slept through the whole thing.
Two weeks went by really fast! Avery is starting to be awake more and is so sweet when she is awake. She is so calm and alert and just loves to study our faces. She just looks at you wide eyed and it is so cute! She is discovering her hands and feet and has her hands in her mouth a lot. She is also reacting to our voices and will look towards you when you talk to her. We are still working on getting some good sleep at night, but she is a great sleeper when she wants to sleep and can sleep through all the chaos and noise without any problem. She is getting strong and starting to hold her head up a little, but she still looks a bit like a bobble head when she tries.
Cute Avery is 2 weeks old!
