Oh, I have been pretty bad at this lately... I think I will start doing these every other month for awhile. I am struggling to keep up! Here is the latest on Miss A - from Feb 25 - Mar 25.... 18 months old! Can you believe it???
Feb 26 - Our last Aggie home game! She makes one cute little cheerleader!
Avery did great at the games this year for the most part. By the end of the season, she was getting a little TOO active and had a hard time sitting still but she loved to cheer for her Aggies. She will still pump her little fist and say "Aa--ees" anytime she sees something sports related or with an Aggie A on it. So happy we have another little Aggie FAN-atic!
March 2 - I think it is safe to say that she REALLY likes her Raviolis! She is not always a big eater, but when you find something she likes, watch out! She was licking her bowl clean!
Afterwards, it was straight to the sink for a quick bath before her real bath. You gotta love that ravioli beard!
March 2 - Cheering on sister at her tumbling. She is such a good sport to go along to all of her brother and sister's event. I am lucky she is such an easy baby so we can do all that we do.
March 6 - Poor Avery and her stitches! Logan ran her over with a scooter at our friend's house after their baby blessing. It was actually only one stitch and she did much better than mom, but it was serious trauma for me! All it took was a sucker for her, and she was fine!
Mar 10 - I met my sister and took our kids to the Treehouse Museum. It was a lot of fun! Our kids had a blast. This was a cow you could really milk...or at least water came out. The kids were a little obsessed with it. There was also some weird sheep in there that moved and made noises and Avery was totally frozen by it. She couldn't stop looking at it, but it terrified her. She just waved at it over and over. So funny! Avery loved taking care of the baby dollsRiding the pony - She was so excited to do this, but then she got VERY nervous on the horse.
May 12 - The stitch is out. It looks pretty good.
Up close... Sadly, this has scarred a little. It looks like a tiny x on the corner of her mouth. Hopefully, it will fade.
March 17 - A little Leprechaun visited our house and left gold coins. Someone left their coins out on the bench by the kitchen table and Avery found them and went to work! I was only gone for a couple minutes, and I found lots of open chocolates and one happy girl... She was stuffing them in as fast as she could!
The little girl who left her chocolates out was not so happy....
Those pictures make me laugh everytime I see them.
Cute new St Patty's Day outfits - I guess I didn't get one of just Avery.
Watching the Aggies play in the NCAA tournament on St Patrick's Day. Too bad they didn't get the luck of the Irish!
March 18 - Avery watching her Elmo movie in the car on the way to Boise. Elmo is her new found love in the car! She is obsessed! As soon as she gets in, she starts asking for "mo" if the movies are hooked up. When the song comes on, she hums along and tilts her head from one side to the other. It is the cutest thing ever! I think she watched the movie 3 or 4 times on the way there. We really should invest in another movie because I don't know how long this one can last! The good news is, there is far less screaming in the car and since we have 2 screens now the other kids can watch another movie. It is a little hard to listen to the same movie OVER and OVER, but not as bad as her screaming can be. She is also starting to count and some other things that she has learned from it, so there are some educational benefits too, I guess...
Mar 20 - Driving home from Boise. She looks so sweet!
Mar 23 - Some friends invited us to go ice skating with them. I was pretty nervous to try it with all 3 kids, but she told me I could take my stroller right out on the ice. Avery was loving it!
She looks so chill laying back in her stroller. She especially loved going with Daddy because he would drive her fast! She loves to be crazy and loves spinning and going fast and for Daddy to throw her in the air. She looks so scared when you do it, but then she immediately starts doing the sign for more and says "mo, mo" over and over. She is a little daredevil!
March 27 - And finally....off to Nursery! She did pretty well the first week, but has struggled a little bit since. She is a big time Mama's girl and has had some really bad separation anxiety lately. She is constantly clinging to my leg and saying "up, up" for me to hold her. She is getting to be a BIG girl though. Nursery sounded so far away for so long, and now she is off with the BIG kids...or at least the BIG toddlers!
A few other things about our A:
Here are some of the words she knows at 18 months: Mama, Dada, Log (Logan), Ry, Bro-er (Brother), book, da (dog), coat, cheese (both cheese for the camera and string cheese), go, nana (candy and banana...you have to be careful on those!), That, Go, Boot, Amen, Duck, Quack, Buh (Button - as soon as she puts on anything that has buttons, she says Buh and wants it buttoned....quick!) Phone, Ma (milk), 'lo (hello - especially on the phone), Buh-bye, hi, bow, eye, mou (mouth), nose, Toe, Ink (drink), Eat, Mo (More), Up, on, off, ba (bath), Pa (Grandpa), gama (grandma), bir (bird), Na (nap), No, Nack (snack), Aa-ees (Aggies), Ries (fries), Vry (Avery - she is trying to hard to say her name but she can only get out the ending so far and it sounds a lot like how she says Ry so it is kind of confusing right now...) Mo (Elmo), cookie, Uh-oh!, I do, Me, no, no, no (complete with shaking finger...) cat, cracker, Coke (she is our only child who will drink carbonation and she LOVES it! I am blaming this completely on dad!) ock (sock), Shoe, baby, Amen, 'low (pillow - Her l's are so funny. She is just starting to figure out how to say them and her little tongue goes all crazy when she says a word with them in it.) I'm sure there are tons more. She is starting to be a good little mimic and can copy a lot of what we say to her.
Signs Avery knows at 18 months:
More, Milk (she uses this one to nurse and I think it is one of her favorites right now...), drink, Eat, bath, finished, Banana, orange, cracker, cookie, dog, pig, monkey, giraffe, elephant, book, candy (another favorite!), shoe, sock, phone, star, fish, cat, bird, duck
Animal sounds: dog, cat, fish, pig, horse (she just moves her finger across her lips up and down and tries to make the sound. It is pretty funny!), elephant, monkey, duck, bird,
Avery is getting really good at saying prayers. She folds her arms and bows her head and closes her eyes. It is adorable! She says "men" at the end so cute, too. She also loves to raise her little hand and say "me" or "do" when you ask her "who loves mom?" or "who wants to go shopping?" or "who wants ice cream?" I love how her little hand will just shoot up. It is sweet!
Avery is mimicking us so much now and she is getting good at saying names. I think she has said Kyle, Jeff, Brad and Vanessa and she LOVES her cousin "E"....at least most of the time. They kind of have a Love/Hate relationship sometimes.... She always looks at pictures and wants to point to everyone in the picture and tell you who it is. It is so cute. One of her favorite books is a book I made for Logan with pictures of our whole family. She loves to point and say "that?" and have me tell her who it is. We had a Christmas picture up of Santa with the kids and everytime I would walk by it with her she would say "oh-oh-oh" instead of Ho-ho-ho. It was so funny! She is really good at finding all of us and naming us in pictures though. She gets so excited to see us on the computer or in photo books or whatever. It is cute!
One of my favorite things Avery does is her little question hands. Whenever she asks us a question, she puts up her little hands and cocks her head to the side. It is adorable! Her most common question (that she asks OVER and OVEr about 100 times a day...) is when Daddy is at work. She will say "da-da?" with her little hands up Over and OVER again! Or if she wants to know where something is she will say "go?"
Avery LOVES to go! She wants to go bye-bye all day long and if we aren't going anywhere she will go and get her coat and stand by the door and say "coa, go" (which both sound a lot alike). She will also get her shoes on. She is trying really hard to dress herself lately. She will try to put on and then button and zip her coat and jacket and she is always putting on shoes! Sometimes they are moms and dads and WAY too big, but she loves shoes!
Avery is starting to play. She LOVES babies and is so funny the way she is with them. She carries them just like a mommy and loves to wrap them up and pretend to change their diapers and feed them bottles. She will even spread out a changing pad before changing their diapers. I always wonder how they learn that so young! Especially wrapping them in a blanket! Then she will put the baby on her hip or in a stroller and grab a purse or a little diaper bag toy and she is off! She has really been into purses lately - or anything that looks like it could be a purse - and it is so funny to watch her put it over her shoulder and try and walk. She also likes to pretend she is a puppy lately. She crawls around on her hands and knees with her little tongue sticking out. It makes me laugh because she is so little and where did she know how to do that?
Avery tends to say her words with more emphasis on the second syllable. She says "da-Da", ma Ma" and "ba By"! She also thinks any little child is a baby and wherever we go, she will call little kids baby and point, even when they are a lot bigger than her.
Avery is a funny little sleeper. She has a funny routine. She gets her story and a song, then she likes to be wrapped with her arms out so she can hold both her baby and her sip. As soon as you lay her down, she rolls right onto her tummy. She also likes to pretend she is sleeping. When we got to get her out of the car, she will pretend to be sleeping, but she will have a huge grin and she will keep peeking out of her eyes. It is so funny! She does the same thing when you sing to her. At night, if she has to come into our room, she will frequently ask for "low", which is her own pillow and I put it next to our bed on the floor and she will cuddle up with all her stuff and sleep there with her little bum up in the air. When we go to get her out of her crib in the morning, she is funny to gather up all her stuff and take it out of the crib with her. She gets almost frantic about it and it makes me laugh...except at 5 in the morning. She is getting better and better about going to sleep at night and for nap time and is starting to be a great sleeper! Another funny thing about Avery is that she is a CLIMBER! She climbs anything and everything she can and frequently pushes chairs around the kitchen to get what she wants on the counter (usually candy). But, she has never climbed out of her crib. Actually, she has rarely even stood up in her crib. Whenever I go and get her, she is still laying down, or occasionlly is sitting up. I don't know why, but I just think that is funny.
Avery loves the lightswitches. I think there is only one in the house that she can reach on the stairs. One morning we heard the lightswitch going on and off and on and off again. She loved that she could do that!
Avery is starting to do better with babysitters and is doing OK when we leave her. She also LOVES to "honk" noses and is very good at pointing to all her body parts - she can do eyes, ears, mouth, nose, cheeks, teeth, tongue, head, arms, legs, fingers, toes, hands, feet, belly button and bum. My favorite though is if you ask her elbow, she immediately points to her head to where her hair bows go and says "bow". Wrong bow.... but funny!
