Playing Pretend

I LOVE this CHEESY picture of Logan - It is a little fuzzy because it was taken on my phone, but so funny to me! He loves to "Show his Teeth" when he smiles! Logan has been so entertaining lately! He is hilarious and is always playing some type of pretend. It is so funny to watch his imagination at work. He is always playing with his toys now, which he never was really into before, and having them carry on conversations and making us join in! One of his latest favorites is to play "Camping". He loves to pretend that we are going camping or use Rylee's Little People Camper set to pretend that they are camping and there always has to be a bear involved and it is usually Darren or I. He also frequently likes to play Disneyland and have either his toys or himself pretend that they are riding Disney rides. The other day, I caught him with a few of Rylee's baby dolls in a basket and he was telling them they were on the Peter Pan ride and pushing them around "over Neverland!"Here is Logan all dressed in his Buzz costume in his "Space Ship". He is also always telling us that he is Buzz and we are Zurg or Woody and loves to talk about "destroying the galaxy" and other funny things. I have recently made the greatest discovery with him - I can ask him to do things over and over and over and usually get no response. But if I start the request with "Space Ranger, I have a Space Mission for you!" He immediately listens and does whatever I ask! It is awesome! This can be anything from "Space Ranger, I need you to find your space shoes for our space mission to the store" to "Space Ranger, we need to clean your room before Zurg destroys the galaxy!" It works great! Now I need to do some "Space Ranger" potty training! I did manage to at least get him on the potty the other day, but when I asked him if he was going, he said "My poop isn't working right now Mom."
Logan also says some of the most hilarious things! The other day, we were sitting at dinner and I was asking Darren where something was and Logan said, "It fell into my clutches!" Where does he come up with this stuff at 3 years old? He sat down next to my little brother at a family dinner the other day and said, "So, How was your day at work?" It was so cute! He always does this to Darren when he gets home, so I guess he thought everyone must go to work! Funny kid! I am always laughing at Logan and all of his funny comments.Logan is obsessed with cars lately! This is him and my dad "driving" my Dad's new car, which Logan LOVES because it looks like Lightning McQueen! He is always carrying around his little cars toys and quoting lines from the movie as he races them around. He is always lining them up and getting them ready to race. It is pretty funny. We were playing "Cars" the other day, and I was assigned to be his fire truck. I asked Logan if he wanted to play, and he said "I don't have tires. I only have hands and feet - No tires!" I finally convinced him that it would be OK to play with his truck anyway. He also recognizes the Chevy logo for some reason, which is weird because we are not car people! Today I was reading the paper and Logan saw an ad for a dealership and said, "Is that our Rocky Mountain Chevy Dealer?" Sure enough, that is exactly what the ad said!Logan has really been liking playing games on the computer lately with Dad. I found some fun games on the Disney website and Logan has loved it! He also really likes the pbskids.org website and is always asking to get on "Buzz.com" or "SuperWhy.com" or anything .com!

Since we moved to our new house, Logan has decided that he doesn't really need naps, which is a little rough on me! I finally got Logan and Rylee on a similar nap schedule and what do you know - He is done! This is a rare picture of him passed out on the couch! Once or twice a week, no napping catches up to him and he totally crashes! For awhile, I attempted to battle the no nap thing, but it just seemed to make it worse. A few times in the same week, I thought he was asleep upstairs and I was working downstairs and I heard him moving around. I went upstairs to see what I was doing and discovered him in my makeup! The good news is that it only was on his face and not all over the bathroom. The bad news is it was on his face and he seemed to enjoy it! It happened more than once! I think that he just wants to do what I do, just like he wants to shave like Daddy, but still... I don't think it is a great idea to get into makeup! I am blaming this makeup obsession all on my little brother, Bradley. Brad frequently likes to show off his vocabulary. The problem is, he doesn't always know what the words he uses means. He was visiting us in Vegas a couple months ago and Logan was being really crazy and running all over and Brad said, "Logan, you are such a transvestite!" WHAT???? We all stared at him and I freaked a little! Then we asked him if he knew what that meant, and he said, "Yeah...Someone who is really hyper and stuff." Not exactly.... Logan in Uncle Jeff's football pads. He thought these were pretty cool! I had to post something manly after the makeup photos!

Gotta love Summer and Popsicles! This is Logan and 2 of our little neighbors, Dallin and Spencer. They spent a few hours at our house a couple weeks ago and played so good together! It was actually a bit of a break for me because they were all so entertained! We have had a lot of fun with them, but our ward got split on Sunday, and they are now in the other ward! Hopefully, we can still have some playdates because Logan loves playing with them!

Fabulous Fourth!

We had such a fun 4th of July weekend! It was so great for us to be back around our family to celebrate - We have really missed it the last few years, although we did miss swimming at the White's house! We had a 3 day celebration and it was great!
We started our festivities on July 3rd at the Logan Fireworks. They are at the Football Stadium at Utah State and they are the BEST fireworks I have been too! My sister and her hubby and my little brother Kyle came up and went with us and we had a great time. They had some live music that was pretty good and then a patriotic program that was a little long and then the fireworks. Logan LOVED the snow cone that Aunt Heather bought him (he now asks for one everytime we drive by a snow cone place - Thanks a lot Heather... Ha ha!) and LOVED meeting the Aggie football team. When we got to the stadium, he was pretty upset that it was just music and not a football game, so it was good he could meet some of the players. Rylee had a great time dancing to the music and loved climbing up and down the stadium stairs. She also kept trying to mooch food off anyone nearby! She was doing this funny "Woo" scream with her hands up above her head that was cracking us up! The fireworks were incredible and we all loved them! Especially Logan and Kyle! They were both very excited by everything! I think we sometimes forget how little my brother still is - he is 8 - and how exciting those things are to him. Rylee somehow managed to fall asleep in the finale - She was so tired!

On the 4th, we got up pretty early and drove down to Darren's parent's house for breakfast. (And YES, my kids are wearing the same thing 2 days in a row, but I loved their little festive outfits and wanted to have them wear them to all of our events!) Darren's family has a tradition of making "baggy omelets" every 4th of July. Then the kids swam and played with their cousins. It was a little crazy and crowded in the pool, so only Logan swam, but Rylee had fun running around the backyard. It was so great to see everyone! Then we went to my parent's house for a BBQ dinner and fireworks. The neighbors were doing lots of fireworks and the kids liked watching those. My parent's house has the BEST view of the fireworks - they can see several different firework shows from their deck, so it was fun to watch them there. The kids also tried sparklers for the first time. Rylee was a little scary since she wanted to grab the flame, but Logan loved them and had a great time "drawing" with them! We ended up getting home a little after midnight! It was a long day with a lot of driving, but we had such a great time - It was worth it. It has been hard to miss all these celebrations living away, so it felt so nice to be back.

Saturday, we spent the day at the Cache Valley Cruise-In which is a big car show here. I have NEVER seen so many cars in my life! We spent a couple hours checking them out at the fairgrounds during the day. Darren really likes that kind of stuff, and I enjoyed it for awhile but then all the cars started to look the same and we were roasting! It was SO hot with all that metal around! That night, we went to the little Cruise-In parade where the cars drive up and down Main Street. Logan really enjoyed it and was cheering all the cars on "Go, GO, Go!" I think I was expecting something a little more exciting...Maybe it was because we had already seen most of the cars. It was still fun though. We sat by my good friend Summer and her little girl, Sky, so we had a good time hanging out with them. This is my FAVORITE pic that I took over the 4th! I LOVE Rylee's sassy little pose with her hand on her hip! She is such a crack-up!

Poop Happens!!!

It seems we have had a lot of funny incidents lately relating to poop. This might gross out some people, but when you are a mom and changing 2 diapers multiple times a day, poop is just a way of life!
Rylee's new favorite word is poop - She says it all the time whenever I am changing her or when she wants to be changed! I don't think she has yet distinguished between poop and pee but I am thinking she is much more ready for potty training than Logan! I think she mostly thinks the word is funny, especially since Logan laughs at her when she says it!
Rylee has also been pooping in the tub a lot lately! She even warned me the other night by saying poop, but I didn't take her seriously and suffered the consequences! A couple weeks ago, we were doing our regular night time routine. Darren and I take turns and one of us will do baths and one will clean the kitchen after dinner. I was taking my turn bathing the kiddos and Darren was downstairs. Logan was having a great time in the tub and seemed to keep "Tooting" and thought the bubbles it made were hilarious! I was worried that he might do something else soon and kept asking him if he wanted to go potty, when I realized that Rylee had pooped in the tub! So, I quickly began the evacuation of the tub and called Darren in for reinforcements. I started sterilizing the tub and infected toys while Darren maintained order with the kiddies. Then I heard, "Oh Rylee!!!" I turned and saw Rylee attempting to pick up a large piece of poop on the floor that she apparently had just created! NICE! So now I switch Darren and he continues sterilizing the tub while I sterilize Rylee from the poop contamination! Then I hear something, look over and Logan is totally peeing all over the rug and the box of stuff that was still in the bathroom (we were still in the unpacking phase!) LOVELY! He is standing RIGHT NEXT to the toilet, but he decides instead to instead pee all over the place! What a mess! Why do we even bother to bathe them? This of course happened shortly after we were all sick, so I was feeling like ALL I did was clean up gross things! Rylee managed to throw up at my Grandpa's Graveside ceremony, in the car on the way to the luncheon and then at my Uncle and Aunt's House and both had some serious diaper blowouts! Just a part of being a mom I guess...but definitely not the part I enjoy!
In another poop related story, the other day I was changing Rylee's diaper and Logan was VERY interested in what I was doing and checking things out pretty intensely! He usually doesn't pay any attention, but for some reason, he was really into it. Then he asked me, "Mom, what is in poop?" He is starting to ask A LOT of questions, but I was glad it was not the baby question, so I explained that when we eat, our body takes the food we need for energy and to make our bodies work, and then the rest comes out as poop. He seemed pretty happy with that explanation and when Darren came home, Logan explained to him that poop was "the food our body doesn't need". I was telling my family about it one day when we were there and they thought it was funny, so of course they start quizzing him on poop. They said, "Logan, what is in poop?" His reply was, "Corn!" I guess he was REALLY checking out Rylee's diaper to know what was in poop!
One more little poop story... We are trying a lot of things to interest Logan in potty training... No such luck! He is really wanting no part of it! (Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!) Anyway, I was changing a REALLY gross diaper and said, "Logan, what if Mommy puts some M&Ms on the potty for you and you could have them when you use the potty." His response was, "Mom! You are going to put M&M's on the toilet! That is SO GROSS!" Funny kid!
One more story - Not about poop, but boogers, which might be just as gross! I don't know what it is but Logan can't seem to keep his finger out of his nose, and then thinks he should always taste it! Gross! The other night, Darren was reading Logan a bedtime story when he pulled a HUGE booger out of his nose and started it straight for his mouth! Darren grabbed his finger and not wanting to interrupt the bedtime routine (or because he is also a boy and slightly gross, too) he brushed the booger onto his sock to dispose of later. When they finished reading, Darren put Logan down to send him to his bed and Logan immediately bent down, retrieved the booger and proceeded to eat it as quickly as possible! BOYS ARE GROSS! I guess he had been eyeing it the whole time waiting for an opportunity to steal it back and have one last bedtime snack! Logan definitely keeps things interesting!

Centennial Post!

Just thought that I would let you all know that this is my 100th Blog post! Pretty big milestone! When I started blogging, I had no idea how addicting it would be! I LOVE it! It has kept me in touch with so many friends and been a great way to keep a family journal and share photos with friends and family far away! Since I had Rylee, scrapbooking has gotten to be impossible and this has been a great fix for me! I realize that I probably write more than most people really want to read, but I enjoy it, so I guess you will have to suffer! Yeah for Blogging! It is now one of my favorite things!

Buzz Birthday Bash!!!

Last Saturday, we had a Buzz Birthday party for Logan. He has been SO excited about this for quite awhile. The past few months, we have switched back and forth between a Buzz and Lightning McQueen birthday party, but he finally settled on Buzz and once it got closer, we just stuck with it. He did keep mentioning that he wanted a Zurg birthday, but how do you do that? I finally convinced him that just Buzz would be great!
For the party, I have to brag a little and say that I made a pretty awesome cake! It wasn't professional but I thought it turned out pretty well for having never taken a cake decorating class or anything. I found the idea online - I used a Superhero cake pan and then decorated it like Buzz and used the picture I found online as a pattern. I was pretty happy with how it turned out but it took MUCH longer than I expected! I was hoping to get it frosted Friday night as soon as Logan went to bed, but with all the birthday fun, I didn't get started on baking the cake until then. It came out of the pan in several pieces so by the time I got it all put together and ready to frost, it was almost midnight! I was planning on about an hour or two to frost, but Darren and I were up until 3:30 am!!! It was a little crazy, but I think it was worth it to see the look on Logan's face when he saw the Buzz cake the next morning! Darren was such a good sport to stay up with me and even gave me some help! (Thanks Sweetie - I could have NEVER made it without you!) I also made some "Rocket Cupcakes". (You have to use your imagination on these a little, but I ran out of energy and time to make the alien cupcakes that I planned on.)

The party was a lot of fun! I made some fun invitations online with a picture of Logan in his Buzz costume and wrote the whole thing with lots of "Buzz Lightyear Lingo", like the location was "Sector 4 of the Gamma Quadrant" and that "Blastoff" was at 11:30 and some fun things like that. Logan wore his Buzz Lightyear costume to the party even though it was 100 degrees outside and he must have been melting in it! He looked very cute though. I decorated in green, silver and purple and put lots of pictures of Logan with Buzz or dressed as Buzz up around the house as decorations. We have a lot of pictures of him as Buzz from Halloween or just playing dress-up and some from seeing Buzz at Disneyland. Logan was VERY excited for everyone to get here and couldn't wait for the pary to start! We started with "Pizza Planet" lunch and then we put Logan's Buzz Bubble Blower out for the kids. When the kids got bored, we did a "Rocket Launch" where we blasted off old film canisters with Alkaseltzer tablets. We had a lot of kids of different ages, but they all seemed to like these! Then we opened presents - Logan got spoiled and got so many fun things including a BIG new Buzz toy and a soccer goal! He has had so much fun this last week playing with all his new stuff! Then we had cake and ice cream. Logan loved blowing out his candles. I did ALMOST cry when they cut up the cake after all the work I did on it. It was pretty yummy though! Then the kids played with squirt guns, which they loved! Rylee even got into it and was holding her gun making shooting noises on the porch. She is so funny! A few people stuck around so we went to the Willow Park Zoo for one last "mission". The kids love going there, no matter how much we visit and especially liked being there with family and feeding the ducks and fish! All in all, I think Logan had a great Buzz Birthday and was so happy about everything. He is still telling everybody about it!

This is Logan and his cute little "girlfriend" Olivia Lifferth. I thought this picture turned out SO cute! They play really great together most of the time and he gets really excited every time we see her. The other day, we were going over to their house and I said something about seeing Livi, and he said, "Her name is not Livi! It is Olivia, and she is my GIRLFRIEND!" So funny! We are actually working on a plot to get them married and so far it seems to be going well....

Thank you for all our friends and family who celebrated with us! We know it can be a busy day and some of you made a pretty long trip. It helped make Logan's day so fun! He is so lucky to have so many people who love him and support him in all his big events! Here are some more pictures from our fun party!
