Accidents in the Outfield and Boogies

Just a few funny things...

Tuesday, at Logan's tball game, he was playing in the outfield. He hates the outfield! I am the coach and he kept complaining to me about how bored he was and asking how many more minutes the game was. I went over to help another player and a few minutes later he came up to me and announced he had peed his pants! WHAT??? He hasn't peed his pants in forever! And he didn't even seem bothered by it. Luckily, his Dad came to the rescue and ran him home for a quick change and he made it back for the next inning. There are lots of laughs to be had at Tball! Darren made him strip down to ride home so he didn't contaminate the car. The struck some manly pose in the back seat and said, "Check out this phenomenon!"

The other day we were going to run a few errands and when I got into the car Rylee was giggling. I asked what she was doing and she said, "I'm painting my teeth with my boogies."

Avery's new favorite word is "K". She says it all day long. If you tell her something or she gets into trouble and gets a little lecture, she will say "K" when you are done. The way she says it is so cute! Rylee was choking on some water at lunch and Avery went over and patted her on the pack and tilted her little head to the side and said, "K???" like "Are you OK?" It was so sweet! I love when they get along!

POOPED!

Literally.... Pun INTENDED! We are up to our eyeballs in poop at our house. Logan started with diarrhea on Saturday night. I just thought he ate something bad or something, but it got worse and he started complaining about his tummy more and more so I took him to the Dr. on Tues morning. They couldn't find anything really wrong, but sent me home with a stool sample kit to test some things. Luckily, my fabulous husband handled that for me. I got a call on Thursday saying Logan had an unspecified infection but all the initial specific tests had come back negative. Thursday night Avery started to get grouchy and have diarrhea as well. Friday morning, the Dr office called and said that Logan's culture came back and he had SALMONELLA! Awesome! And...Salmonella is contagious, which I didn't know and since Logan was acting pretty well besides the diarrhea, I wasn't too careful about him being around my girls or even other people. He went to soccer camp and tball games this week. Oops! I feel awful if we gave it to other people! I had no idea! They gave me an antibiotic for Logan and for Avery since she had started symptoms as well. Yesterday, after we found out and I picked Logan up at soccer camp, we got medicine going and watched movies all day. That Netflix membership has now paid for itself! Today, Rylee woke up with a sore tummy and now has diarrhea as well... So... A lot more poop to come! Looks like more movies and PJs for us and more laundry for mom! The good news is Logan's fever broke this morning and he is acting much better. It only took a WEEK! I'm hoping since the girls should be on medicine sooner, it won't be as long. I'm REALLY hoping for that. I am SO tired of cleaning up poop!!! Not the best start to summer break... Its got to get more exciting from here, right?

Would You Rather???

Warning: This post is really disgusting!

In College, my roommates always played this funny game called "Would you rather?" all the time. They would come up with some really crazy situations and then ask, "Would you rather?" and you had to choose from one of two options they would come up with. This game was especially funny late at night. It is now actually a board game (or maybe it was before, but we always made up our own). We own it, but it is still in the box since Darren doesn't really like games and we never have adults over to play it with. Anyway, I digress...

My roommate Becca was especially good at coming up with funny and completly disgusting "Would You Rather"s and Darren and still laugh over a couple classics. Becca worked at a nursing home and one time she came up with "Would you rather lick an old man's frothy gums after taking out his dentures or lick a cow's bum?" SO gross, but a little funny....or maybe only if you know Becca...or maybe only late at night in a college dorm.... Another favorite that has caused some serious contemplation and debate over the years was "Would you rather eat ice cream that tastes like poo or poo that tastes like ice cream?" Really....think about it...

Anyway, my latest poop post got me thinking a little. You see, there was some irony involved with Avery eating her poop. A few weeks before, I was at my mom's and my sister's 2 dogs were running around. I am not really a dog person, or any pet person for that matter. Especially not after what I witnessed that day. Her dog threw up.... and then her puppy licked it all up! Seriously...ALL of it! I couldn't even find the spot where the dog threw up to clean it up, which I guess is a positive because I didn't want to clean it up. I told her that it was the MOST disgusting thing I had ever witnessed!

Then, Avery ate her own poop....

So, it begs the question.... "Would you rather.... lick up someone else's puke or eat your own poop?"

You don't have to answer. But, I know you are thinking about it....

It just gets better...

Logan just threw up, so that makes things even better at our house! He managed to get it all over the couch and carpet, so after taking off all the cushion covers and scrubbing it all down, I have now lost another hour of my life to puke! Can I just say how much I HATE the smell of throw up?

Not so good on the way up....

WARNING: Some may find this post totally disgusting! I used to be who was totally grossed out by throw up, but now that it is part of the duties of motherhood, I try and find some humor in it...
I have a good friend who will remain nameless, in case she doesn't want to be associated with this story. Anyway, she gets pretty sick when she is first pregnant and we have had a few discussions about which foods are worth the risk of eating when you know they will eventually just come back up! We decided there are some foods that actually taste almost as good coming back up as going down. A couple examples of some of these are Orange Chicken from Panda Express and chocolate cake. Today I discovered something that would NOT qualify to be on that list - Swedish Fish! (For those of you jumping to conclusions, NO I am not the one puking and NO I am not pregnant!) Actually, since I wasn't the one who threw them up, I don't know how they were on the way up, but today I discovered they sure make a big mess!
So this morning was going REALLY well! Sunday mornings are kind of hard, since Darren leaves at 6:30 for meetings, and I have to get the 3 of us ready for church. I can never seem to make it on time, no matter what I do. There always seems to be a lost shoe or a diaper issue just as we are walking out the door, and we just can't get there on time. This morning was looking promising though - At 8:15, Logan and I were both dressed and ready and had eaten breakfast and the diaper bag was mostly ready. I was so proud of myself! I decided to go and wake up Rylee and I when I opened her bedroom door, I knew something was wrong! It smelled awful and I found her sleeping in a puddle of puke! SO GROSS! Who can sleep through that?
The poor little girl had no idea what was going on when I woke her up - She couldn't figure out why I was freaking out so bad and why I didn't want to pick her up. She was covered in red, sticky throw up due to too many Swedish Fish! This is because yesterday we went to the movies to see Madagascar 2. The people next to us had some popcorn and Rylee is the biggest mooch on the planet when it comes to food. She can sniff it out anywhere and she kept trying to go over and steal these poor people's popcorn. In an effort to keep her away from it, I started feeding her swedish fish. After a good amount, I tried to take them away from her, since I know that they give me a pretty good stomach ache if I eat too many and she was going through them pretty quickly. She got pretty upset and started screaming and since we had also lost her binky on the floor, I just kept letting her have them to keep her quiet during the movie. Bad idea! Too many Swedish fish definitely make for gross throw up! If that wasn't bad enough, there were also black beans from her dinner at Costa Vida last night, and she kept picking them out of the throw up and off her pjs and saying "Mmmm...Beans!" GROSS!
I quickly got her in the tub. The worst was her hair - It was a sticky, red mess and she had pigtails in, so getting the rubber band out of her hair was quite a trick. She was totally fine and splashing around in the tub like nothing was wrong. I then started cleaning up the crib. While I was doing that, I noticed that Rylee was working on something in her diaper, but decided it could wait until I changed her sheets. That was not a good idea - She leaked out of her diaper and on all the clothes I just dressed her in! What a morning!
Needless to say, we did not make it to church today! By the time I got everything cleaned up, sacrament was more than half over and I didn't want to risk her throwing up again at church! I actually took some pictures of it all, since Darren was not here to witness it and I wanted to show him. It is totally weird and gross, I know, but just part of my crazy addiction to document all events of our lives in photos. And as sad as she was, Rylee did look a little funny all covered in red puke. For everyone's sake, I will not post the pictures, although Darren thought they were kind of funny!
Swedish Fish are one of my favorite treats, but I think it was be awhile before I can eat them again. I keep them on top of the fridge, and every time I walked by it today and thought about taking one, I remembered my lovely morning and decided I would pass. This could be good for my dieting - Maybe I should have Rylee throw up ice cream and chocolate next!

Poop Happens!!!

It seems we have had a lot of funny incidents lately relating to poop. This might gross out some people, but when you are a mom and changing 2 diapers multiple times a day, poop is just a way of life!
Rylee's new favorite word is poop - She says it all the time whenever I am changing her or when she wants to be changed! I don't think she has yet distinguished between poop and pee but I am thinking she is much more ready for potty training than Logan! I think she mostly thinks the word is funny, especially since Logan laughs at her when she says it!
Rylee has also been pooping in the tub a lot lately! She even warned me the other night by saying poop, but I didn't take her seriously and suffered the consequences! A couple weeks ago, we were doing our regular night time routine. Darren and I take turns and one of us will do baths and one will clean the kitchen after dinner. I was taking my turn bathing the kiddos and Darren was downstairs. Logan was having a great time in the tub and seemed to keep "Tooting" and thought the bubbles it made were hilarious! I was worried that he might do something else soon and kept asking him if he wanted to go potty, when I realized that Rylee had pooped in the tub! So, I quickly began the evacuation of the tub and called Darren in for reinforcements. I started sterilizing the tub and infected toys while Darren maintained order with the kiddies. Then I heard, "Oh Rylee!!!" I turned and saw Rylee attempting to pick up a large piece of poop on the floor that she apparently had just created! NICE! So now I switch Darren and he continues sterilizing the tub while I sterilize Rylee from the poop contamination! Then I hear something, look over and Logan is totally peeing all over the rug and the box of stuff that was still in the bathroom (we were still in the unpacking phase!) LOVELY! He is standing RIGHT NEXT to the toilet, but he decides instead to instead pee all over the place! What a mess! Why do we even bother to bathe them? This of course happened shortly after we were all sick, so I was feeling like ALL I did was clean up gross things! Rylee managed to throw up at my Grandpa's Graveside ceremony, in the car on the way to the luncheon and then at my Uncle and Aunt's House and both had some serious diaper blowouts! Just a part of being a mom I guess...but definitely not the part I enjoy!
In another poop related story, the other day I was changing Rylee's diaper and Logan was VERY interested in what I was doing and checking things out pretty intensely! He usually doesn't pay any attention, but for some reason, he was really into it. Then he asked me, "Mom, what is in poop?" He is starting to ask A LOT of questions, but I was glad it was not the baby question, so I explained that when we eat, our body takes the food we need for energy and to make our bodies work, and then the rest comes out as poop. He seemed pretty happy with that explanation and when Darren came home, Logan explained to him that poop was "the food our body doesn't need". I was telling my family about it one day when we were there and they thought it was funny, so of course they start quizzing him on poop. They said, "Logan, what is in poop?" His reply was, "Corn!" I guess he was REALLY checking out Rylee's diaper to know what was in poop!
One more little poop story... We are trying a lot of things to interest Logan in potty training... No such luck! He is really wanting no part of it! (Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!) Anyway, I was changing a REALLY gross diaper and said, "Logan, what if Mommy puts some M&Ms on the potty for you and you could have them when you use the potty." His response was, "Mom! You are going to put M&M's on the toilet! That is SO GROSS!" Funny kid!
One more story - Not about poop, but boogers, which might be just as gross! I don't know what it is but Logan can't seem to keep his finger out of his nose, and then thinks he should always taste it! Gross! The other night, Darren was reading Logan a bedtime story when he pulled a HUGE booger out of his nose and started it straight for his mouth! Darren grabbed his finger and not wanting to interrupt the bedtime routine (or because he is also a boy and slightly gross, too) he brushed the booger onto his sock to dispose of later. When they finished reading, Darren put Logan down to send him to his bed and Logan immediately bent down, retrieved the booger and proceeded to eat it as quickly as possible! BOYS ARE GROSS! I guess he had been eyeing it the whole time waiting for an opportunity to steal it back and have one last bedtime snack! Logan definitely keeps things interesting!
