It is starting to get a lot colder around here and we had a few small snow storms in October. I don't really like being cold, but I think the snow is gorgeous and I LOVE the view we have of the snow covered mountains!!!
I haven't been feeling likethe greatest mom because I feel like I am feeding the baby all the time! I attempted to do a little craft with Logan and Rylee to make up for it. They are SO excited to use glue sticks! We made little pumpkins with different shapes for their faces. The had lots of fun with it.
Rylee working on her pumpkin. Rylee did this all by herself! I was so surprised with how well she placed the shapes and matched them up! She is getting so big and smart!
I was taking lots of pictures of Avery and Rylee decided she wanted her photo taken too. She is such a pretty little girl! I love those eyes!!!
Rylee is quite the bookworm and has a book just about everywhere she goes these days. This one is "Baby Bear, Baby Bear what do you see?" from the library and she has is pretty much memorized. I think it is so funny to hear her say animal names like blue heron and screech owl. She likes to "read" to us and I am always amazed how much she actually remembers from each page.
The first weekend in October was conference weekend! I LOVE conference weekend! It is such a great opportunity to hang out together and hear from our prophet and leaders and who doesn't like church in your Pjs? I made Logan and Rylee a little book to color and activities to help them listen. It worked pretty well for about an hour... Logan did love the Bingo, but the skittles didn't last too long, as you can see. I think he was trying to shove them all in before I could tell him to stop!
I read an idea online of having a quiet tent for the kids to listen and play in during Conference and to relate it to the story of King Benjamin in the scriptures where the people listened to him in their tents. It also worked pretty good for about an hour, and then it wasn't too cool anymore. I thought Rylee was so cute hanging out!
Avery taking a little snooze! Unfortunately, I did a little too much of this during Conference, too. I had a hard time staying awake since I was up a lot of the night with this one.
Rylee loves to hold Avery! She always says "Ohhh....We're sisters!" She is pretty sweet with Avery...most of the time!
I love this funny boy! We told him we could have a pajama day while we watched Conference and he LOVED that! He asks to have a Pajama day all the time now.
Another photo that I couldn't get to turn! Why does it do this???? Anyway, you can see my very messy toy room in this picture, but this is also Logan and Rylee "working out" or "extra-cising" as Rylee likes to call it! Darren went upstairs to see Logan bench pressing the little shopping cart and telling him he was working out. Hilarious!
Then Logan moved on to bench press the bouncer seat and Rylee is going to run on the treadmill. I don't know how safe this is, but it is pretty funny. Where do they come up with this stuff?
Rylee and Avery. Rylee is always asking me to take her picture with her little sister. She is loving being a big sister!
Rylee zonked out on the couch. Don't you wish you could do this? Rylee has refused to take regular naps for awhile now, so she frequently ends up just crashing like this on the couch.
The Grizzlies Hockey game played a game near our house as an exhibition game. Logan and Darren got to go to the game and Logan was SO excited!!! He was all over the place and so happy! I think his face says it all!
Cute Buddies! Darren said that at one point in the game, Logan just said "My slapshot is famous. It soars through the air! Hang on to your helmets and goalie beware!" in a really funny voice. He finally figured out it was a line from the Bernstein Bear movie that we had borrowed from the library. He had a hockey episode in it and Logan LOVED it and was talking about slapshots and the Cousins vs the Bullies over and over! I think that is why he was so excited to go to the game. While the boys were gone, Ry and I got Snow White and watched it and she LOVED it! The funny part is that her favorite character was the evil queen. She kept saying "When is the bad witch coming back?" and she talks about her all the time! So much for the whole Princess thing! Should I be worried???
Rylee loves her daddy. Here they are doing some Eskimo kisses! I thought it was adorable of her and him together.
Logan has become quite obsessed with my camera lately. This is the best photo he has taken yet. I am actually all the way in the picture! He sneaks off with my camera quite frequently and I find all sorts of interesting photos. The other day, he came and told me that he took a picture of the neighbors house, and sure enough, when I checked the camera, there were 2 pictures of his house. So silly!
October was a funny month for weather. It would snow one day and be super warm the next. I guess that is Utah in the fall! The kids love playing outside and have discovered the joys of sidewalk chalk.
Hard at work! Logan's favorite thing to do is make a hopscotch. He loves to practice his letters and the other day, he wrote all of our names on the sidewalk.
Rylee doesn't want to come in for lunch! I think I will save this photo for blackmail (or evidence) later in life!
Rylee just loves to have her picture taken. She will pose herself and then tell me to get the camera.
A team photo! What a bunch of cute little (and one big) boys! Darren has lots of fun being Logan's coach and it was a fun season! Go Lightning!!!
Logan finished his soccer season in Mid-October. Avery and I even made it to his last few games. Logan had lots of fun and even scored FIVE goals this season, although one was for the other team. I unfortunately never got to see him score. He is excited to play his first season of outdoor soccer next spring and I think Rylee will be big enough to play by then. Won't that be funny???
The gym they play in is SO dark the pictures never turn out! As you can see, Darren's team was a little crazy! Logan is the second from the left, doing some sort of dance or something it looks like.
Darren has been enjoying lots of soccer games lately and loves for the kids to watch with him. It usually doesn't last too long, but they like to spend time with Daddy any time they can. They make some cute couch potatoes!
Logan and some of his chalk art. He is getting really good at writing his name. Darren actually thought I had done this. (Is my handwriting this bad??) Now we just need to work on his lowercase letters.
We went for a nice Sunday drive to look at the leaves one Sunday in October. We found a great canyon and it was a gorgeous drive! Logan missed a day of preschool for Uncle Dean's wedding, and they had made a leaf picture. He wanted to make one so we went to gather leaves for Logan and Rylee to make one and the kids thought that was great fun.
Ry laying in the leaves - Once again, I wasn't really planning on getting out of the car, so she is looking fabulous! My kids seem to think sandals are year round shoes. I love her hands on the hips pose, even while laying in the leaves.
This is another picture of Rylee's creativity. When I came home from the hospital, this monkey puppet from the library was in Avery's swing with her tutu from the dressup box. I thought it was funny!
My mom finished Avery's quilt and I LOVE it!!! I love all the quilts she has made, but this one is my favorite of the 3 she has made for my kids. Isn't it amazing? She has been busy this last month or 2 making one for my sister's baby and my brother's wedding as well. I wish that I could make stuff like this.
What cute buddies! A deer! We saw seven on our drive and I think the kids actually saw them, too. It is so hard to get them to see things when we are driving, but we saw so many, I think they were able to catch a glimpse, too. I love living in such a beautiful place!
This is kind of a funny picture, but there is a story behind it. Rylee has really been into building things with blocks lately. She is so funny about the things she makes. One day, she told me that she was making a night light. She kept taking them different places in the house and later that day, I realized that she had put one in every bedroom in the house. In her room, Logan's room, our room and even in Avery's room and "Grandma's Room" or the spare room where our moms stayed while they were helping out with the baby. I thought it was so hilarious! They were all placed by the beds. They were all very different, but these were a couple of my favorites.
This is another picture of Rylee's creativity. When I came home from the hospital, this monkey puppet from the library was in Avery's swing with her tutu from the dressup box. I thought it was funny!
