Daddy's Day

June 17 - We have pretty much the best daddy ever.  Just sayin'.  So, we tried to give him a pretty special Father's Day.  He definitely deserves it.  I don't know if it was as fabulous as he deserved, but we tried to make it a special day.   With early church, we didn't have a ton of time for breakfast, so we ended up doing frozen breakfast sandwiches.  That was Logan's idea.  I think we did it last year and Logan insisted it it was our new tradition.  They loved giving him breakfast in bed and it was crazy getting off to church, so we had to wait until after church for presents.

The kids were SO excited to give Daddy their presents!  It was hard to wait until after church.  They each made him a card and filled out a questionairre about him - Their answers were hilarious!  I'll post them below.  They also each painted him a rock - They picked the craft.  I gave them several options of things to make and that is what they chose - Paper weights.  They wrote things like "You Rock Dad" and painted them Aggie blue.

Opening his gifts - Logan gave him a Darth Vader book about dads.  It is kind of like a comic book and they have loved reading it together.   Rylee gave him a picture we had taken.

This picture.  Framed for his office.  What cute little Aggie fans!

Avery gave him a Aggie shirt with the new Aggie logo and Bronson gave him an Aggie hat.

They also got him a trophy card that played the Superman theme song. They love those kind of cards! And we do kinda think our daddy is Superman.  he does so much for all of us!

Cute kids with Daddy

I don't know of too many daddy's who spend as much time playing with their kids as ours.  He is SO great to do fun things with them - play legos and Princesses, let them help him in the yard, take them on special lunch dates, let them tag along on his errands.  He really is the best.  He is so great with them and a great example for all of us and does so much to help me around the house.  Sometimes it hurts my feelings  a little how much my kids adore their dad.  I wish they looked at me the way they do him.  But I love that they love him so much and their favorite time of day is when he comes home from work.

Here are their little questionarries and answers about daddy.  I will have to take pics of the cards and post them because their cute little handwriting makes it better.

Avery's answers:

I loved cute Avery's answers!  She said some funny things.  I don't know where the chocolate coins came from but she definately knew about Diet coke!  And I love that she said he weighed "100 dollars".

Such fun cards!  Can you tell how much they love their Daddy???

We went to my parent's house for dinner.  My kids made similar cards for my Dad and I wish I had those answers, too.  They were so funny!  When we were there, I found the kids doing this - They were all laying under the apple tree with Grandpa eating an apple.  So cute!  Grandpa was also singing them some song about "you and me under the apple tree"  Rylee sings it now every time we go there.  So cute!  They have the best grandpa!  He would (and does) do anything for them!
I tried to sneak some pictures without them noticing, but they caught me!
Rylee, Ethan, Gpa B and Avery

They LOVE grandpa!
We are so lucky to have such great men in our lives!  The best daddy and Grandpas any kid could ever have!  Happy Father's Day to our special Daddys!

Father's Day and Moses

June 19 - Just for the record, we have the world's Greatest Dad at our house! At least that is what his crown says!
We really do have the BEST daddy! He does everything for us and the kids were so excited to surprise him with breakfast in bed on his special day. (Although how much of a surprise is it if we do it every year?) Rylee was also very excited to give him this special crown and they couldn't wait to give him presents! It wasn't very exciting - Just some new shirts and some yummy raspberry jalapeno jelly from one of our favorite little bakeries. Oh, and a card Rylee picked out that sang and lit up. My kids are obsessed with those! I don't know what we would do without our dad! He is so great to help out and play with the kids and works so hard for our family and is a great example for us. We sure love him!!!

The kids sang in sacrament meeting for daddy, and then after church we went to Grandma and Grandpa Boman's for a Father's Day dinner. While we were there, our daddy got another special treat. You see, Darren has a bit of an obsession with snakes and reptiles. He even took a whole class on them in college and they went out to some crazy snake nest and saw TONS of snakes and Darren loved it! I remember we went to the San Diego Zoo right after we got married and he spent SO much time in the reptile house, and I couldn't wait to get out. He loves that stuff! Well, so does my little brother, Kyle and he recently acquired a ball python. He is babysitting it for a family friend while they are on a mission. He just got it the weekend of Father's Day, so it was another special surprise for our daddy who was like a little kid holding Moses the snake!
Oddly enough, Logan wasn't too into the snake. It made him very nervous. The girls, however, loved the thing! Logan told Rylee that he was the careful one and liked to think about things, but she just "rushes right into danger!"
Avery LOVED Moses, too. My favorite is hearing her say the word snake. It is so funny! She gets so excited and says, "NNNNNake!"
You would think they are petting some cute little puppy or something...
I love her eyes in this one! After everyone else was tired of watching the snake, these two were still hooked! The babies sat and watched the snake and laughed at him for quite some time. I thought they looked pretty cute watching him together. Cheap entertainment, I guess.

One Great Daddy!

I know Father's Day is long over, but since I am in catch-up mode, I figured I should include our Father's Day activities! I really wanted the kids to be involved in the presents for Darren this year so we made a trip to Michael's and they picked out some picture frames and the paint they wanted to make a craft and some cute little aprons. I am not a great craft or project mom - I tend to get a little stressed! I always see such cute things other moms do and feel bad that I am not better at that, but it is not something I do really well! Especially when it involves paint in my new house, but things went pretty smoothly, although Rylee did try and open the paint by herself while we were getting things ready and ALMOST had it everywhere! Luckily, we survived with only a few small mishaps! They had a great time making their projects, so I was happy we tried it!
Rylee working with her PINK paint - I tried to convince her that Daddy might like some other color, but she only does PINK these days!Isn't she doing a lovely job?
Logan wanted 2 shades of "Aggie blue" paint so that is what he ended up with. I tried to show him how to paint the two colors separately so they would be different, but he just mixed them around. He seemed to have a great time and it made an interesting new color!

Concentrating hard!
Showing off their little messes! I was going to put pictures of the kids in the frames, but decided instead to do their handprints in paint. It was a little stressful to make sure the paint didn't get everywhere but they turned out cute and the kids thought it was great fun to have paint all over their hands! All finished! I wanted to get a picture of the finished projects, but the paint was still really wet since the kids put on layer after layer of paint!
The kids were SO excited and proud to give their presents to Daddy! I think that made it more fun that they made them themselves! They loved it! Our church is at 8:30, but I managed to get up early enough on Father's Day to make Darren a breakfast, although it wasn't as gourmet as one of his creations. Logan picked out breakfast sandwiches at the store, and I figured that would work best since we would be in a hurry for church. I also cut up some fruit and we had a yummy breakfast! After church, we opened presents and Darren watched a soccer game (also part of his father's day present!). Then we headed to my parent's house for dinner.
Logan and Daddy! He loved the "Aggie Blue" frame!
Rylee and her pretty pink frame!

Aren't they cute? I bought a TON of meat and steak awhile ago from one of those door to door sales people (I know...can you say SUCKER???) and told Darren it was part of his Father's Day since I got it for him to try out on the grill. He has loved it all summer so it turned out to be a not so bad purchase! I also got him a couple of grilling cookbooks that he really liked and a picture I had done of the kids. Logan picked out a card that sang "Hey Now, You're An All Star" since that is "the song from Shrek". The whole time we were at the store picking the card, Logan was pushing the button OVER and OVER and I was suprised the card actually made it to Father's Day! He thought the singing cards at the store were the best thing ever!!!

Darren is a great daddy! My kids adore him and I am so blessed to have a husband who is so involved with them and loves to play with them and spend time with them and helps with so many things like baths and bedtimes and diapers! He is also so wonderful at cleaning up and helping around the house and I love that he makes time for us to do special things together and that spending time with us is a big priority for him. It is something the kids will always remember - that their daddy always spent time with them! We are so lucky and love our Daddy!

We had a yummy dinner at my parent's house and after dinner, my mom went to throw away something in the garage and heard the Beach Boys playing. She was trying to figure out why my dad was hanging out in his car listening to the Beach Boys and realized that Rylee was out there ,too. She ALWAYS wants to drive my dad's car and had got Grandpa to take her out there and they were out there having a great time jamming to the Beach Boys and "driving to Disneyland"! What a fun Grandpa!!!
Rylee asked Grandpa to "see herself" so he pulled down the mirror for her. My dad is a total sucker when it comes to Rylee and does EVERYTHING she says! It is a little dangerous because she is totally spoiled! But I guess that is what Grandpa's do! I love that she has so much fun with him and loves her grandpa so much!!! My dad has always been a great dad and now a great grandpa and is also such a wonderful example! I am so blessed to have him and Darren's dad as my Dads! I have always had great men in my life and am grateful to have them and for all they do for me and our family!

Happy Father's Day!

I usually create some crafty little card for Darren for Father's Day and other occasions, but all of my scrapbooking stuff is still packed away somewhere, so I guess a little blog tribute will have to do this year! I am so lucky - Darren is such a great husband and a wonderful dad to Logan and Rylee and they love him so much! We have all been so spoiled for the past 2 months with Darren having so much time off - It has been like a big vacation! The kids have truly loved spending so much time with their dad and doing so many fun things together! Every time Darren goes into the office now, Logan gets so upset that he has to go to work. He loves playing and hanging out with his dad! Logan and Rylee both get so excited when they hear Darren come home and run to the door - Rylee is so cute and says "daddy" and runs straight to the door as soon as she hears him coming. Darren is so good to help me with the kids and I feel that he is truly my partner in raising them. He helps with baths, diapers, bedtime and everything else and really makes an effort to spend time with both Logan and Rylee and I love that about him. It will be hard when he does start working because I have been used to so much help for the last little while! He is truly a hands-on dad and makes things so special for them. He can always make them laugh so hard and they adore him and look up to him so much. I couldn't ask for a better father, husband or example.
Part of the reason I fell in love with Darren was that I could see what a good dad he would someday be. The summer we got engaged, I was working for EFY and the weeks I was working was not able to see Darren at all, so we always tried to do something fun on the weekends. One weekend, we promised my little brothers that we would take them to the Hogle Zoo (they were 2, 6 and 8 at the time...) Not many boyfriends would be too excited about spending the only time together with 3 little brothers at the zoo, but Darren was so great with them. I remember writing in my journal about how great a father I knew he would be after seeing his patience and love with my brothers. He was so wonderful all day and I knew he would be a great dad someday, which was so important to me.
Thank you, D, for all that you do to make my job easier and for being such a great dad who truly gives his time and love to his kids. You are always trying to do fun things with the kids and make so many great memories and experiences for them to remember and to spend time with you. Logan and Rylee are so blessed to have such a great dad who does so much for them and loves them so much! We all love you and are so thankful for you and all you do!!!
I also want to take a chance to thank my own dad - He is such a great example to me and always has been. He recently celebrated his 50th birthday, and for a surprise we put together a little book of 50 things that we loved about him. It was so easy for me to come up with a list - He has always been there for me and taught me so many things. He has given me a great love of the scriptures and the gospel and taught me the importance of family and obedience. He has always been so supportive and one of my biggest fans and gives great advice. I always know I can go to him. Ever since I was young, he has also planned great vacations for us as a family and given us so many great experiences. This summer he is taking us all to Disneyworld and we are SO excited to spend together!!! He is also one of the best grandpas you could ever ask for - He gets the biggest, cheesiest smile on his face whenever he sees Logan and Rylee and they love being around him! He plays with them so cute and they love it! Thanks Dad (and Grandpa)! We LOVE you!
I would also like to thank Bill, Darren's Dad. He did a great job raising Darren to be such a caring and giving person. He has helped us out so much whenever we have needed anything and spoiled us so many times. He is also a great grandpa and takes such pride in his family and their accomplishments. I feel so blessed to be a part of the Webber family! Logan and Rylee love spending time with them, too and have so much fun being around him. Thank you for all you do for us - We LOVE you, too!
This is my first Father's Day without a Grandpa, which is a little wierd. (My other grandpa passed away before I was born...) I am also grateful for all the things that I have learned from wonderful grandfather and the memories that I have of him. We miss you!
Fathers have a great ability to love and influence and I have been truly blessed by some wonderful Father's in my life. To every Father, Happy Father's Day!
