Avery at 13 Months

Here is Avery's latest update from Sept 26 - Oct 25. I thought I would stop these after one year, but she is still changing so much I have to keep doing it to keep up with all her milestones!

Oct 1 - Avery cheering for the Aggies at the BYU game. She actually got to witness a win over BYU! That is huge when you are an Aggie football fan, especially for your first BYU-USU game, and being born into this family, she has no choice but to cheer for the Aggies! Avery was pretty crazy in the first half and then we got a snow cone at half time and she was in heaven! She loved the straw and we couldn't keep it coming fast enough for her.
She somehow managed to fall asleep in the 4th quarter. So nice when that happens!!!
Oct 2 - Avery reading a book at Logan's soccer game. She is really into books lately and this one has a little mirror that she pushes her face right up next to. It is so funny!

Oct 2 - Who knew it would be warm enough to run in the sprinklers in Utah in OCTOBER??? Crazy! The kids had a blast doing it and Avery wanted to get right in there with them. I think she was actually the most fearless of all!

She loved just grabbing the sprinkler and didn't care at all when it sprayed her in the face

Walking in the grass - She is getting really great with her walking!
Oct 2 - We went to the Soft Play while Daddy was at Priesthood Session during Conference and Avery really wanted to climb in it like the big kids! I think she hates being left behind all the time and she wants to do everything Logan and Rylee can.

Oct 3 - During Conference, the kids had little books to color and Avery wanted to do it, too. I was pretty surprised with her scribbling skills!

Trying to get the marker lid off. This is one of her newest (but not her best....) tricks! She loves to eat markers!

Little artist

Don't bother her...She is on the phone! I think we may have another diva in the making!

Playing with Daddy during Conference. How cute are these two???

I love that grin!

So happy!
Oct 4 - Avery at her one year well check. She weighed just over 20 lbs, but I can't remember her height or the percentiles. She had to have LOTS of shots, which I hate. She was SO sad, until she got a sucker and that seemed to make it all much better! She had a rough couple of days afterwards though.
Oct 4 - Avery playing on the playground at Logan's Parent Teacher Conf. The girl LOVES to be outside! She stands at the door or the window every day and cries to go out all day long. She especially loves the swing!
She thinks she is SOOO big!

Just hanging out!

Oct 9 - Another one of Logan's soccer games. This one must be boring because she is on the phone. I love how she holds the phone up and she usually tilts her head to the side, too.

Oct 9 - Another marker mess! This is almost a daily occurrence lately. Avery has figured out where the markers on and can get the lids off. This one was one of the worst and the red marker was pretty funny on her lips! How can you get mad at a face like that?

All over her tongue, too!
She looks pretty proud of herself.

Oct 9 - Ry and Avery ready to paint toes for a Girls Night In. Avery loved it!

Oct 14 - We went to the little Fall activities at the Heritage Center near our home. Avery LOVED the petting zoo!

She really loved the swings, too. Especially this horse one.

Avery going down the slide with our cute friend, Whitney. She had so much fun and wanted to go over and over again!

Avery sitting on the horse. The other kids got to do pony rides, but they wouldn't let Avery. She was so excited when we got close to the horses and was doing her sign for horse and making the sound. We had to at least let her sit on it for a minute! She loved it and was so mad when we took her off!
Avery riding the train

Avery in the petting zoo with dad

Avery at the waterfall up the canyon near our home. She loved going there and had so much fun toddling around and picking up leaves and rocks. She especially seemed fascinated by the waterfall!
Avery picking her nose. She is a little obsessed! It isn't really picking her nose as much as she discovered her finger fits perfectly inside and she seems to like that.
She looks way too grown up these days! You can see her new front tooth peeking through.
Avery checking out the leaves.
Oct 21 - Avery in another mess! We are in a whole new stage and that means trouble a lot of the time. She seems to be into everything and especially enjoys the bathroom for some reason! She loves the TP, the cupboards, (or any cupboard or drawer) and splashing in the toilet! She keeps me very busy!
She is looking quite pleased with her mess!
Not only does she unroll it, she also likes to rip it all apart! Her other big mess lately is the craft cabinet where the kids crayons and stuff are. She loves to dump all the crayons or eat the markers or rip all the paper.... Any kind of mess!
Oct 23 - Avery at one of Logan's soccer games. She has endured lots of these kind of events and is pretty good at all of them for the most part. Especially if she has her little snacks in hand. Those help keep her happy!
Oct 25 - Avery picking out her pumpkin at the pumpkin patch by our house. Last Halloween, she was barely a month old! So much has changed!!!
Miss Avery crashed out on the couch! This rarely happens. She is way too hard to get down for a nap to just have her fall asleep like this, so I love it when it happens. I also love the tiny hand with the toy baby bottle sneaking in. Ry is probably just about to shove it in Avery's mouth trying to "help" her. I hope Avery can survive her very helpful sister!
Is there anything better than this? I think not!
Oct 25 - We spent the afternoon with Logan's Kindergarten class at the Pumpkin Walk. My kids love these funny cut outs to put your face into. It is their favorite part. We had to get a few of Avery. She made a darn cute Yoda!
Avery LOVED this Nemo display for some reason. She got super excited when we went by and practically jumped out of her stroller. I don't know if it was the bright colors or the background music or what, but she was into it!
Ariel Avery
Cinderella Avery - I know they aren't the best pictures but they make me laugh!
Avery 13 months old! She is bringing me a leaf. She looks so big in this picture, too! How did my baby grow up???

Avery is officially a toddler and is walking everywhere and is super fast at it! I can barely keep up. Not only is she walking, she is attempting to climb as much as possible and we have had a few bumps and falls. I hate that part of the first walking stage! She toddles around so cute though. It is fun to watch.
She is learning more and more words and is talking quite a bit these days. My favorite new word of hers is "Brotha" for Logan. It is so sweet! She loves going to get him at the bus stop everyday. I think her favorite word is "Hi" or "Hiya". She walks around saying it and waving all day and it is really funny. She has this super cute little voice and it sounds adorable! Avery can also say something that sounds like "Annie" for our neighbor's dog. It is always in the backyard when we are out on the swing set and she loves her and always wants to pet her through the fence. Another new word is "uh-oh" mostly when she drops something. It usually is just "oh" though and sometimes she will cover her little mouth, too. She has also learned the sign for Monkey and makes the cutest little "ooh-ooh-ooh" to go with it! We love it!
Avery is getting pretty good at her body parts and loves for us to ask her and then she will point. She can do her toes, nose, eyes, mouth, teeth and hair. Her favorite is "Eye" and she can say it really well and is always going around and pointing to people's eye and saying "eye" and poking people in their eyes. She also LOVES to brush her teeth and gets really excited about that!
Avery loves being outside and she spends part of her day watching out the window or crying at the door to go out. She loves her swing, but has also just discovered her little slide and she loves it! She can climb to the top by herself but then needs a little help to get up onto the slide. She has so much fun going down and can't wait to go again. She has tried the bigger twisty slide with Logan, but she doesn't like that one as much.
Avery is great at waving bye-bye and also started blowing kisses. They are so cute and she makes the cutest "MUAH" noise when she blows them.
Avery is FINALLY sleeping through the night on a pretty consistent basis. This is mostly my fault as it was hard to get her established on a routine and most nights she would fall to sleep nursing. We decided to practice some tough love and make her fall to sleep on her own. It was rough for awhile, but she is doing great and it is so much better now! We read her a book or two and then sing her a song, wrap her up and lay her down. She still cries sometimes, but rarely more than a few minutes. And she is doing great and usually sleeps from 8 or 9 pm to sometime between 6 and 8 am. It is great! The first night was hard, but she was really tired that night, so she fell asleep within a half hour. The next night was awful and I think she cried for almost 2 hours! It was so awful and I questioned if I was doing the right thing. The next night, she cried for about 20 minutes, and since then, she has been great! She still has had a couple rough nights, after her shots and when teeth are coming in when she will wake up in the night, but for the most part she is doing great! Now, if we could get her to nap longer than 20 or 30 minutes!
Avery got 3 new teeth this month! She finally got her missing front tooth right in the middle on Oct 8th. It is kind of funny to watch the difference in her smile over the last month in the pictures as that tooth comes in. It makes a big change! She also got her two top first molars around Oct 14th. I had no idea they were coming in and then saw them one morning and it explained a lot of grumpiness and lack of sleeping!
Avery is in my junkfood baby! She loves all things sweet, or anything bad for her! I have never had a picky eater before and don't quite know what to do about it. She especially loves any candy, cookie crisp cereal, ice cream, M&M's (she calls them m's and asks for them every time I walk by the cupboard), and pizza and I recently discovered she LOVES corndogs. When I get them out for lunch, she freaks out that I have to cook them first and wants them RIGHT then! She is so hard to get to eat real food! She does usually do good with dinner, and lunch is hit or miss, but she rarely eats much of anything for breakfast. Sometimes she will chow a banana and other mornings she will just throw it on the floor. I don't know what to do with her! She is super picky and if I put a bunch of different things on her tray, she will pick out the things she wants, and then throw the other pieces on the floor, which makes for a disgusting floor! She loves crackers, especially goldfish crackers. I had her try some pretzel ones and they were definitely her favorite. After that, whenever I give her the regular goldfish, she will throw them on the floor, unless they are in her cup and she can't tell what they look like. It is kind of funny to me that she won't just eat what I give her like my other kids did!
It is getting much harder to keep up with Avery! She is into everything and I feel like I am always taking little choking hazards out of her mouth (barbie shoes and marbles seem to be her favorite!) or cleaning up one of her many messes or rescuing her from where she has gotten herself stuck climbing onto! She is also a lot of fun and showing way more personality and loves to make us laugh.

Moments with Logan

Oh how I love my Logan! He is so full of life and energy! He said one of the funniest things today - We were driving home from church and out of nowhere, he says, "How old will Jesus be this Christmas?" It took a second for me to really think what he was talking about, but then it clicked that Christmas is Jesus' birthday. I thought it was hilarious because I had never thought of it that way. He is such a funny boy!!!
The last 2 days with him have been so entertaining! On Friday night, Darren took Logan to the Utah State-Weber State hockey game. Logan was in heaven! He loved the whole thing and had a great time. Darren had really good seats close to the ice, but Logan was nervous to sit that close for some reason, so they moved a little further up, but then they were by the tunnel and the Fog machine, and Logan wasn't too sure about that either. Darren said he really paid attention the whole time and cheered and he even remembered a lot of the players names and jersey numbers afterward. He woke up Saturday morning bright and early and started playing a hockey game in the toy room quite loudly. It was a pretty funny thing to wake up to! The kid has a career in Sports Broadcasting ahead of him! He talks just like the announcers at the game and has the same inflections in his voice and remembers all the players name. He even came up with his own team and started inserting his friends and himself as the players. For example, he would say "For the Aggies, #45, Logan WEBBER!!!" just like the Utah State announcer. I love it! He went through most of his little friends doing the same thing. I love it! He also is always keeping score on either the little easel with his number magnets in the toy room or on a piece of paper, and then he crosses it out and changes to the new score. It is pretty funny how entertained he can be by this.
Last night, we went to the Utah State-Weber State basketball game. (Yes...we are BIG Aggie supporters.) He loved it and was jumping up and down and cheering the WHOLE game like the Energizer bunny! I don't know how he does it! The people who sit in front of us are older and a little ornery and they kept giving us VERY annoyed looks the whole game. It is too bad for them, too because we have season tickets and will probably be bothering them all season long! Logan was VERY into it and did every chant, including "I believe that we will win" and "Winning Team, Losing Team" (If you have never attended a Utah State game, you should check those chants out on YouTube. They are quite impressive!) His daddy was SO proud! He didn't even have a voice today because he was cheering SO much!
Today at church, there was a new little boy in Primary who happens to be in Logan's school class and Logan was ecstatic! He was there last week, but we were out of town, so we missed him being there. When they asked if there were any visitors, Logan jumped out of his seat and raised his hand, but the Primary President didn't see him quickly enough, so he ran up to the front of the room and announced that there was a new boy, and then grabbed the little boy and tried to pull him up. They had to explain that he was already introduced. It was pretty funny. I think he jumped for most of Primary because he was so excited. People kept asking me what he ate because he was pretty hyper. He was quite sad though when he found out that he wasn't in the same class as Carter, but he did sit with him through all of opening exercises and they were so funny. They would just look at each other every once in awhile and hug. Too cute!
Tonight, Logan couldn't fall asleep because he kept coming down and telling us he really needed a clock in his bedroom so he knew what time he needed to wake up. He is such a funny boy about some things.
Tonight we were talking with some friends and telling a few funny stories about kids and one came up about Logan that I don't think I ever journaled. About a year and a half ago (May 2009), we were at a really good friend's 30th birthday roast. Someone came in and told us that our child was outside with no clothes. Sure enough, Logan was in the neighbors sandbox, completely naked! When Darren went over to talk to him, he explained that it was Ok, because he was camouflaged and no one could see him. Oh, I love my Logan!!!

One Year Old!!!

I've had kind of a crappy week, but after some retail therapy, some blogging and free Chic-Fil-A things are looking up! I even finished this LONG post I have been working on for awhile and ran 3 miles today after not running since Logan was born! I love accomplishing something!

My baby girl is ONE year old now! I don't even know if I can still really call her my "baby"! She is really more of a toddler! I hate that! She is at such a fun stage though. She is starting to talk and interact with us so much and she has so much personality and she is getting around really well. I just miss being able to cuddle with her and hold her like a baby. She is much too wiggly for that now! They grow up SOOO fast!!!

Aug 29 - Avery is now a stair maniac! I spend most of the day chasing her up and down the stairs. She is so fast now! I love watching her just slide down on her belly. She loves to go up to the toy room and she always wants to be where the big kids are.
Aug 29 - Avery and cute Ethan at his 1st birthday party. This picture was at the end of the party and they are both looking a little tired. I love that she has such a cute little cousin so close to her age. It is so fun to watch them together, when they are not poking each other's eyes out!!! At his party, she was really working hard to walk. I don't know if it was all the people and attention or what, but she took about 8 steps that day, which was the most she had done.

Sept 1 - Avery at the park at our End of Summer picnic at the park! She LOVES the apple slices and chicken nuggets from McDonald's!

Avery's favorite thing is the swing! She loves it and gets so excited when you even get close to it. Her little legs just go crazy!

Avery trying out the slide.

After the park, we walked around the zoo. It was so funny to see Avery watching the animals. She got pretty into it. Especially feeding the ducks!!! She wanted to climb over the fence and in with them.
Avery watching the monkeys.
My BIG kids on Logan's first day of school. Avery is so sad to have her brother gone for a little bit each day and gets very excited when I say it is time to go get him at the bus stop. It is too cute!!!
Sept 2 - Avery on Logan's first day of school
Avery eating an ice cream cone. She looks like a little walrus! She LOVED it!!!
Sept 3 - Avery walking!!! At this point, she could take about 6 steps at a time and loves walking back and forth between Mom and Dad. I think she thinks it is a fun little game. It is so cute and she is getting really good!
She especially loves to fall into our arms when she is done.
Sept 4 - Avery's first Labor day weekend! We spent that Saturday at the Webber's hanging out by the pool. This girl loves her daddy!
Avery kept acting like she wanted to get in the pool, so I changed her into her suit, but that only lasted a few minutes. I don't know if the water was too cold or if there were just too many people, but she wasn't staying in the pool! She looks cute in her swimsuit though.
Sept 6 - For Labor Day, we went up the canyon with my family. Doesn't Avery look so cute by the flowers? We had a really fun day!
Avery and Ethan on the teeter totter.
She loved this thing!
Daddy and Rylee and Avery and Uncle Jeff - The teeter totter was even fun for the BIG kids! :)

Me and Avery hanging out by the pool. We went to this campground that had a pool, so after we roasted dogs, some of the brave people got in the pool. They claimed it was really warm, but I didn't think it was warm enough for Avery so we just soaked up some sun. I love this girl!!!
September 11 - Avery's messy face - She LOVES chocolate!

Sept 11 - Avery at her first Aggie football game! She loved it and they won!!! Woot Woot!
Sept 15 - Avery and her funny teeth - She is still missing that big top middle one so it looks a little funny when she smiles. I love it!
She is starting to really cruise and can make it pretty much across the room now. I love how she walks with her little hands up waving in the air like a little monkey!
Sept 19 - Avery out playing in the yard. She LOVES to be outside!!!
Avery's funny bear crawl! She does this a lot, but mostly when she is outside. I don't think she wants to scratch up her legs on the concrete and she doesn't really like the feel of the grass either. I think is looks so funny with her little bum way up in the air. She's our little Mowgli.
Walking in the grass - On this day (Sept 19), she started walking a lot and did about 12 steps in a row! She was walking around a lot here and there throughout the day and even did really well walking on the grass. She would even stand herself up in the middle of the room and go instead of just starting from the furniture!

Sept 20 - Avery loves to "Help" unload the dishwasher and especially take out all the silverware! She is starting to be TROUBLE! She also loves to climb and climbs up on the dishwasher door quite frequently! She has started climbing UP onto lots of things(like the vacumm), but then gets stuck and screams and screams until I help her down. Funny girl!
Sept 22 - Avery at one of Logan's soccer games. She is a great cheerleader for her big brother.
Sept 23 - Avery walked all the way down the entire driveway to get to Rylee's little trike. She has recently discovered riding bikes (or at least sitting on them) and she wanted to get on this one so badly but I had no idea she could walk that far! I think she was a VERY determined little girl!

Look how proud of herself she looks!!!

Oops...Boom!
Sept 24 - Avery shoving a banana in her mouth. She will only eat the banana if it is whole. She doesn't like me to chop it up for her. It makes it a little difficult to get the whole thing in her mouth!

MMMMmmmm.... Lucky Charms! The breakfast of Champions! Not only does Avery love this cereal, she ONLy will eat the marshmellows, which you can now see all over her face and I'm sure have no nutritional value at all. Oh well! What can you do? You gotta love all the marshmellows stuck all over her face!
She is DONE!

Sept 25 - The birthday girl with all her presents!!!
After she opened them all up. She loves her cute little sock monkey! I will have much more on her birthday and party to come!!! (In about 3 months... haha!)
Walking! I love my monkey!!! She seemed to really start walking everywhere the day of her birthday and all over at her party.
Digging in to her cake at her big party (Sept 26)
Crawling in the grass in her birthday outfit. She was headed for the swings. She spent about half of her party having someone push her in the swing. She loves being outside!

Avery's One year stats:

Weight: 20 lbs. 2 oz (33 percentile)

Length: 29 3/4 inches (69 percentile)

Head: 46 cm (75 percentile)

Avery is starting to talk and communicate really well. Some of the new things she has started doing lately are animal sounds. She loves horses ever since she rode the ponies at the County fair, and if I sign horse to her, she will try and blow her lips together to make a horsie sound. Or sometimes, she even takes her finger and runs it back and forth over her lips. It is cute! She tries to do the sign for horse, too, but doesn't quite have the dexterity to pull it off yet. She just puts a finger up by her head. She also does a funny doggy sound - "arf, arf" in a funny high-pitched voice, while she pats her hand against her tummy or leg, which is her sign for dog and she can even say dog pretty well. She also can say duck and tries to make a funny quack sound, that is also really high pitched. It is really cute!

Avery also does the sign for Dad by putting her hand on her forehead. She can say Dad really well, too. She also will start up the stairs and then say 'Mon, like Come on, and use her little hand to tell you to follow her, by opening it and closing it towards herself. It is really cute! She will also sign eat and say "mo, mo" for More, over and over until you give her more food. She also loves Logan. Her favorite part of the day is going to get him at the bus stop and seeing him in the morning. She has even just started to say something that sounds like "brother" for him. It is adorable! She loves Rylee, too, but sometimes they don't get along too great. She also says "ma" a lot and her very favorite word is "Hi". She says it so cute and she seriously says it like 100 times a day!

Avery is starting to really show her personality more and more. She is so funny and she LOVES teasing her brother and sister, and even mom and dad. She will pretend she is going to give us a kiss, or share a toy and then take it right back and get the biggest grin. She is a funny girl! She is starting to really be a ham and loves attention and will do these huge chessy grins to people to get them to notice her. She is always pulling such funny faces and big smiles and making us all laugh. She loves to click her tongue and she also loves to give kisses and makes the funniest kissing sound. She is starting to try to blow kisses a little and she waves bye, bye really well.

Now that Avery is on the move, she is BIG trouble! Her favorite place to play is the toilet right now and as soon as I realize I haven't heard her for a minute or two, I know right where to check. We are trying to teach our children to keep the bathroom doors shut because she has already got caught playing in the toilet a couple times. This is an even bigger problem because Logan always forgets to flush! Gross! She also loves to unroll the toilet paper and empty all the cupboards and drawers, which she also likes to do in the kitchen. One of her favorite places to play is my tupperware cupborad. She loves to throw it all out all over the kitchen. She is a very busy girl and rarely sits still! She is always on the go and always into something!

Avery started the month taking a little step here or there, and got progressively braver day by day. She could cruise along furniture really easily and started out just taking a step or two from one thing to another. By the end of the month, she could do around 15 steps or so at a time. She is really starting to cruise and is starting to really like her independence. She walks so funny and has her little hands raised up by her head. She is our little monkey and we love it!

Avery has learned a REALLY bad trick from her older sister. She SCREAMS when she wants something...or when she doesn't want something, too. It is not just a little cry - It is a blood-curling scream that seriously hurts your ears! I call it the "diva scream" and Rylee has perfected it long ago and now has passed it on to her sister. She will do it if I am eating something she wants or if the kids have a toy she wants or just if her sister is close to her and she wants her to leave her alone. It is NOT my favorite thing!

Avery loves toys that she can put things into or take things out of. She has also recently really discovered books and loves to sit and look at them. She is like Rylee and perfers to just do it herself rather than have me read to her, although sometimes she will let me. She looks so cute sitting there and looking at her books. I love it! Another favorite toy is the phone, or anything that even looks anything like a phone. She will take it and hold it right up to her ear and say "oh, oh" (Hello, Hello) over and over and even cocks her head to the side. It is so cute! She has also discovered playing with baby dolls and her stuffed animals and loves to cuddle (and kind of maul) them. She will give them big kisses and say "MUAH". So sweet!

Avery has become quite the picky eater. She hates me to feed her anything, so we are experimenting with a lot of different things she can eat on her own. For a few days, she loved bananas, but then she wanted nothing to do with them. For awhile, her favorite was yogurt, but other days, she won't even touch it. My other kids weren't like that at all so I don't really know what to do. Some of her very favorites right now are cheese and any kind of cracker.

Avery is starting to learn her different body parts. So far, she knows her teeth, mouth and toes. It is funny to watch her point to them and try and point to them all or point to them. She especially loves to grab her toes. She LOVES to brush her teeth! She gets really excited about it and loves to do it, at least on her own. Once you take the toothbrush and help her, she is not too happy. She cut another tooth on September 9th - Tooth #5. It is her other bottom tooth, so she now has 3 on top and 2 on the bottom, but she still has her gap where her front tooth is, so it is kind of funny. She also has an awful habit of grinding her teeth! I hate it, but she thinks it is so funny and give me the biggest grin after she does it!

My other kids were pretty much ready to give up nursing at this stage, but Avery doesn't really show signs of slowing down. She does sign for milk, and says "mil, mil" over and over when she wants to nurse and even pulls my shirt up. I don't mind too much - It is the one thing that may keep her my "baby" a little longer. She also has this very funny habit that she likes to put her hand in my mouth while she nurses. She just kind of rests it there on my teeth, although sometimes she will kind of dig around. She actually likes looking in people's mouths all the time, not just when she is nursing. I will blame that one on her dad!

Now that Avery's has cut so many teeth, she is starting to do a little better at sleeping at night! Yeah!!! That is great news for Mom! She will usually even sleep all night.

Just for me for Avery's baby book:

Words Avery knows at ONE: Mama, Dad, Hi, Brother, Duck, Dog, More, Milk, Hat, Boo

Signs Avery knows at ONE: Eat, Bath, More, Milk, Dad, Dog, Horse, Drink, Finished, Phone, Bye, brush Teeth, banana (she also has a made up sign for Come On and she nods YES really well!)

The Origin of Bacon

Last night was one of those nights where you come home from errands and realize you have no idea what you are going to have for dinner and the kids are ready to eat...NOW! (Unfortunately, this seems to be the case a lot lately...) We decided to try breakfast for dinner, and Darren made some delicious pumpkin pancakes with cream cheese filling. They are amazing! He also made some bacon and while he was serving it up, Logan said the funniest thing!
He said: "MMMmmmmm! Bacon! The meat from Mexico!"
