Piano Recital

May 18 - Logan at his piano recital.  His teacher was so great and found him so music that he was really excited about.  He played the Star Wars Main Theme and did a fabulous job!  It was FOUR pages and he had it all memorized and played with hardly any mistakes.  He LOVED playing and learning that song!  I was SO proud of him for how hard he worked on it and what a great job he did!
That night was the Father-Son campout for our ward so there was some worry if he was going to want to go to his recital, but he was able to play to do both and not be too late and I am so glad that he did because he worked so hard to learn his song.  He loved the recital because all the kids played popular songs and there was a little worksheet that you could guess clues and stuff about the songs or movies they were from.  Logan loved that and even though he was supposed to leave for his campout, he wanted to stay and hear all his friends and finish filling out his clues.  Grandma Boman was also able to come up for the recital, but we didn't get any pictures with her.  She is so great to be there for the kid's big things.

Finished performing
Logan and his teacher, Karen Hansen.  We are so bummed because she moved this summer and we had to find a new teacher.  I hope she will continue to make piano fun for Logan.

Jingle All the Way

Dec 2 - Our countdown activity for Dec 2 was to attend a Christmas musical performance, which worked out perfectly since Logan had a piano recital that night! They performed at the Assisted Living Center near our house and I think that the residents there really enjoyed listening to all of them. They each played a Christmas song. Logan played "Jingle Bells" and he did such a good job! He was one of the youngest ones, but he had his song totally memorized for weeks and knew it really well and did great performing, even though there were a lot of people. I loved when he would practice at home and Avery would walk around and sing "Jingle all the way" !Our handsome pianist!

After the recital, we took the kids out for dinner to celebrate how great Logan did! They picked Texas Roadhouse. They love that place! Logan always has to order the sweet potato loaded!
Avery chowing down! Another fun night with the family....

First Piano Recital

May 20 - Logan started piano lessons way back in September. He wasn't too sure about them at first, but he has really started liking them and has been getting pretty good. He is leaning all the names of the notes and starting to read music. I didn't want to push him in too fast, so we started out doing lessons just every other week, but by the end of lessons, I think he was ready for more. He didn't always love practicing, but he was pretty good about doing it and loved learning new songs. He had his first recital and did a great job! He played a song called Christopher Columbus and had it all memorized for weeks. He made one little mistake during the song and kind of started to turn towards us, but then kept going with his song. When he sat down after his song, he said, "Yes! Perfect! I fixed all my mistakes." The highlight of the recital was definitely watching him go up there and announce his song. He looked so grown up and so confident. Then, instead of going AROUND the bench to sit down and play, he just climbed over straddle style. It was hilarious and had most of the little crowd cracking up. Oh, I love my Logan! I tried to get the video of his performance on here, but it wouldn't work. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong... Here are a few pictures of the big debut performance!

Logan was SO excited that Grandma Boman came to watch his first recital!
