A Sun-BEAM!

In January (Jan 3), our sweet little Princess Rylee graduated from Nursery and started PRIMARY! She was so excited to be a Sunbeam and go to the "class that Logan goes to". She is loving it! Her teachers are Sister Bladen and Sister Bingham and she loves them! She also loves her class. It has a bunch of her very best friends - Madi, Alli, Savannah, Easton, Owen and Gabe (I think I am forgetting someone...) Oh, Gabe! He is SO cute and Rylee has decided that she is going to marry him! He missed the first 2 weeks and Rylee was so concerned. She came home from church the first Sunday and told me that she was going to marry Gabe and grow as big as me and move to her own house!!! I thought I was just sending her to Sunbeams!!! Whenever she told anyone about her class, she would include that she is going to marry Gabe someday. She told Grandma Pat that "Gabe has been gone for 2 weeks. If he's not there, I'm going to be worried. I'm going to marry him."

Usually after church I will ask the kids what they learned about and I will have to ask Logan over and over again about things, but it is VERY different with Rylee! She will tell me EVERYTHING about her class, if she got picked to go up in sharing time, who she sat by (or didn't sit by)... a million things! She is SUCH a girl! She pays attention to every little thing. Sunbeams has also come with a little bit of girl drama, which I am not really ready for, but hopefully it works itself out. I hate seeing my little girl sad!

Rylee on her first day of Sunbeams!

Rylee made a life size drawing of herself on her first day of Sunbeams. I need to take a picture of it and post it because it was so cute and so Rylee! Her teacher also told me something funny she said the other day. They were talking about being baptized and the teacher asked how old you are when you get baptized. Someone said 8, and then Rylee said, "I'm never going to be able to get baptized because my Dad just wants me to stay 3 and be little forever!" So sweet! We have been teasing her that we don't want her to grow up and that we aren't going to let her turn 4.

And just for fun, here is a little flash-back...
This is Ry on her first day of Nursery at 18 months old in our old townhome in Logan! Time flies!!!
Of course, she didn't end up actually going to Nursery until she was closer to 2 years old, but this was her first official day of going to nursery and then sitting with mom! She didn't even look back when she went into Primary. She is definitely growing up... WAY TOO FAST!!!

Our Little Sunbeam!

Logan had his very first Primary program on November 22. He was so excited and practiced all the songs for weeks. Our primary is so great and gave the kids a CD several weeks before and Logan was great at singing all the songs. His favorites to sing are "Fair is the Sunshine" (I don't think that is the title but that is how it starts and what Logan calls it...) and How Firm a Foundation. He likes to sit at the piano and "practice" and belt out the songs while he plays. He knew them so well it really surprised me. He also had a little speaking part. His whole class said "The family is ordained of God." They were supposed to say it all together, but Logan was sitting closest to the mic and said it first before anyone else, and then they all said it together after. Then they each said a little part. Logan was first and said "My name is Logan and I have a family." It was so cute and he did a great job! He knew his part so well and wasn't scared at all.

I have to say that the Primary Program is always my favorite sacrament meeting of the year at church. (Probably because I have never been in the Primary to have to do all the work for the program.) There are always funny things happening. Our Primary is HUGE! All the kids wouldn't fit on the stand so they had the Sunbeams in front of the pulpit on some little stairs. They had little footprints for them to stand on and they did a great job staying there. We were on row 2 so we had a great view. A couple minutes into the program, the little boy sitting straight in front of us did a HUGE sneeze and then he looked down and just kept his hand covering his face. The teachers in front of us were all scrambling for a tissue and when they gave him one and he moved his hand, his whole face was covered in boogers! So gross, but a little funny! Luckily, he covered his mouth or we would have been showered! All the little Sunbeams sat so perfect in their spots....except Logan! He wasn't being noisy or bad....just active! He was up and down the little stairs and turning around to see all the kids behind him and all over the place and playing with his tie and he loved to do all the actions to the songs, which I think the director was just doing to help the kids remember the songs...I don't think they were actually supposed to be doing them, but he knew them all and was doing them pretty intensely. I was told after that Logan was very entertaining. I don't know if that is a nice way to say that he was a bit naughty or not, but he was pretty funny! Isn't he handsome in his shirt and tie?
Rylee was so proud of her brother! She was standing up on the bench to see him and kept asking where he was and watched him so close. Grandma Boman and Uncle Kyle also came to watch Logan. Kyle was in heaven because he got all the sweet after program primary treats in primary that day. He thinks our primary is the best and is considering moving in so he can get some more of the candy and cool stuff they gave out.
In other news about Logan - In November, for show and tell, he had to choose something he was grateful for, so he took a picture of Avery. He is such a proud big brother and the second he walked into school, he told his teacher that he had a picture of "my sweet little Avery". It was so cute! I'm sure he is grateful for Rylee, too. He is such a good big brother to both of them! Also, about 2 weeks ago, his teacher called in the middle of school. I was pretty worried that Logan had thrown up or peed his pants or punched another kid or something, but she was calling to tell me he was reading. I already knew that he knew a lot of words, but the teacher was amazed at how well he was doing and sounding out words, so she sent him home with the books they read in Kindergarten and he is doing so great with them! He started with about 5 and as he passes them off, he takes them back and gets new ones and he loves it! He is so proud of himself and gets so excited to take books back to his teacher. It is the first thing he tells her when he walks into school. I love that he loves learning! It is so fun to watch him grow!

Our Sunbeam!!!

Can you see the difference in these photos???
These pictures are of Logan on his LAST day of nursery.....
And here he is on his FIRST day of Primary as a Sunbeam....
Doesn't he look so much more grown up? I know that it has been over a MONTH since we started Sunbeams, but I still can't believe that my BABY is old enough for Primary!!! Where does time go? I have a hard time picturing him sitting still for the whole time and listening but I think he is doing OK. I haven't had any bad reports...yet!
These pictures are of Logan AFTER his first day of Sunbeams with his cute little "I Am a Child of God" hat! He was so proud of it and of himself for going to primary like a big boy! His teachers tell me that he is great in class and knows all the answers, which makes me nervous for what else he says in class.... He loves his cute teachers, but unfortunately, they are moving out of our ward, so he is going to have new teachers next week. Hopefully, he will adjust OK!
Logan does have one funny (and not so good) habit in Primary. I guess he tells everyone that he needs to talk in the microphone each week. So...They let him! They hold him up there and let him say "Thank you for coming to Primary boys and girls!" at the end of Primary every week. I guess he wants to be like his dad. Everyone thinks it is so cute, but I don't know if it is a good habit for him to be in! Anyway, I guess since they knew he liked talking in the microphone, they assigned him to give the scripture on only his second week. Here are some pictures of him afterwards. He was so proud!
He did SUCH a great job! He was a little bit loud, since he wanted to be sure that he was talking in the microphone but he said his scripture really well with only a little help! I almost cried - It was so sweet! His scripture was Psalm chapter 82, verse 6 - "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High." I was especially surprised when a week later, he said it for Grandpa with only a little bit of help, and can still do it with only a word or two here or there. Maybe we should be working on some scripture memorization at our house...
In other exciting news, LOGAN IS FINALLY POTTY TRAINED!!! It has been a long road for him, and we have tried several times but I could tell he was not ready. Something clicked this week and he has done AWESOME! We have only been at it 6 days (this time around...) and he is already going all by himself and has had hardly any accidents! I am a firm believer in waiting until they are ready - It is SO easy!!! I am SO Proud of him! We have even been out and about and going places and he has done so great. I can't believe how big my baby boy is! Even more exciting is that little Rylee has also gotten in on the fun and is going to the potty a couple times a day, so I think that we will be starting with her soon, too. I am planning on doing a whole post just about Logan since he is now 3 1/2 sometime this week, but we will see....
