Nursery!!!

Avery has hit a big milestone! She turned 18 months at the end of March and got to start going to nursery! Hurray!!! She went for the first time on March 27. The week before, she was being I was trying to hold her in the Primary room and she was being naughty and kept running away and Darren was teaching, so they told me to let her try going into Nursery for singing and she did great.
She did great on her first week, too. She stayed the whole time and only had to go for a little walk once (at least that is what they told me...) She loves the singing and snack. I have been told that she will do great, then look around and realize that mom and dad aren't there and cry. Hopefully, she will do better soon... Here are some pics of her on the first day.

She colored a picture about families...or at least there were a couple scribbles if you looked REALLY close.... She was so happy to show us when we picked her up.

After her first week, we had a two week break for General and then Stake Conferences. I don't know if that confused her or what, but she hasn't done too well the last 2 weeks. Maybe it is because there are 18 other crying kids in there... I'm not sure. She cried most of the time she was there this last week. Hopefully she will get better soon!!!

And, just for fun, here are my other kiddies on their first Nursery days....
Rylee in October of 2008 on her first Nursery day. She didn't stay there though. I think it took her a good six months to be ok with nursery and then we moved and she had to adjust all over again and I don't think she really went consistently until she was about 2 1/2. Hopefully, Avery will like it a little faster than that!
Logan in January 2007 - He LOVED nursery from the very first day. He was pretty lucky to have a nursery with only a couple other kids. As a matter of fact, a few times he was the ONLY one in Nursery and those leaders spoiled him rotten! They were like his adopted Grandmas and they adored him. He was so sad to leave them when we moved from Vegas. He always did great going and never had a problem. Look how little he looks....

Our Nursery Girl!

The Sunday before General Conference was Rylee's first day in the Nursery (September 28th). I did cheat and take her one day early, but I figured it was close enough. She has been wanting to go in for the last couple months. When we drop Logan off she says "toys, toys" and keeps saying it during Sunday School, and sometimes will even go to the door and cry to leave, so I was hoping that she would really like going. She has been going through a rough phase of separation anxiety lately, just when I thought she was over it! To my surprise, she went right into nursery and did just great. I think that it really helped to have Logan there. I kept checking through the window and she was doing fine. They had subs and I was a little worried for them. After a few minutes, I relaxed and decided she was going to be great! Just as I settled in Sunday School, the nursery leaders showed up with Logan - He pooped in his diaper! Well, that set Rylee off. She did not like Logan leaving, especially when the teacher said the word "MOM". When I checked she was SCREAMING and kicking the nursery leader who was trying to hold her. So, I decided to take her out. So, she lasted all of about 10 minutes. We took care of Logan's diaper, and tried to get her to go back in, but she realized we were gone and she was done! I am hoping after a week away, maybe she will forget about her drama and go back! These pictures are of our big girl after her first day...or first 10 minutes...of nursery!

This last picture is of Logan on his 1st day of Nursery in January 2007. I think it is fun to compare their pictures at the same age. I think there is quite a resemblance. What do you think? Logan LOVED nursery and still does! I am hoping that Rylee will soon love it, too! She is starting to love to color pictures and loves to do "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes", "Popcorn Popping" with the actions and "Once There Was a Snowman" and she of course LOVES snacks, so I think she is all ready! What happened to my little baby?
